or busy, busy Mel.
I have so much going on, I don't know where to start. I got my truck back. Yes you hear that right, I got my truck back!!! Here is what I got done - added a winch, a wrap, running boards, and a tonneau cover. One side has www.meltodd.com the other has www.badashbooks.com
I love it and I'm excited to finally get to drive it.
But that is just the beginning. I also have a short story collection coming out. Some have been in other anthologies, but a few haven't. And I wrote a new Carelian story called "Thumbs" that should have you laughing. You can pre-order it here.
I'm working on Unbalanced Luck and it should be mostly done by the end of next week, I just have to write the climax and then all the chapter blurbs. But then I'll set it up for pre-order and get it to my betas.
While you are waiting for 2 weeks to pass (worry I am writing like crazy I swear) here are some other stories to check out.
This book is in Audible, so if you have a few credits you might want to check out The Ravenglass Chronicles. This omnibus collection brings together all 22 novellas of Jon Cronshaw’s best-selling series, The Ravenglass Chronicles. it is over 40 hours of listening. So if you like fantasy and a hint of Tarot, you’ll love this coming-of-age epic fantasy adventure with hidden magic, found families, and reluctant heroes.
In a world where your whole life is planned, being Compliant isn't an issue. But when you suddenly get a choice, it becomes a lot more difficult. Check out Compliant if you liked Hunger Games and Matched.
This week I've got three for you, so if you want a free short story that sets up a sci-fi universe, check out Moon Hunters. Surely finding one girl is easy.
Now I'm back to writing, editing, and figuring out scary adult things. Is it nap time yet?
Calories
The acid rain fell around Jay as he walked. It was a bittersweet memory of What Once Was. You couldn't drink it, but it lowered the heat and kept anyone poor enough or animalistic enough off the streets. This meant it was the best time to get out and search for supplies. Calories were important.
The worst thing about the gas mask was how it limited your senses. So being outside in the rain meant constant sweeping for movement or noise that you missed.Up ahead the remains of a sign, "Kro-" lay in a parking lot. That was his goal. He had a knack for finding the smaller stores that hadn't been stripped clean—yet.
He gave wrecked cars a large berth, you never could tell what hid beneath them, as he headed to the doors. The glass lay broken and what blood might have been there had long since vanished. Carefully inching in he stood waiting, listening. As he wasn't attacked the second he stepped in, it was safeish. Jay pulled off his hood and took a deep breath. It wasn't clean, but there wasn't rotting flesh either.
Jay pulled his sack off his back and moved toward the canned goods section, still listening for anything more troublesome than the movements of a rat.
The chambering of a bullet made his heart stop and he froze in the middle of the canned vegetables aisle. He pivoted slowly and looked up. There in the managers office above the floor a figure stood, with a rifle aimed right at him.
"This place is taken," the voice was hoarse and dark.
"Yessir. I'm leaving." He kept his hands up until he backed out, dropping only to pull up his hood. He turned and started wakling away. No matter, he knew it was there now, he'd be back with others tonight.
Pain registered at the back of his head, then nothing.
"You let him get awful far away."
"Yep, should have been further. Don't want no one coming back here. He'll be gone by morning." The one time manager of Kroger set down the rifle and went back to dinner. That was life now, caring wasn't worth the calories.

I'll be at a con when you get this, so I hope you've had a good weekend and I hope I've sold some books. ~laughs.~
