Spring Is Coming

At least in Georgia.
I know California just got dumped with snow, and the midwest is having freezing temperatures, but the low here was in the high 50s. That means I'm trying to prep garden stuff. I was outside for two hours on Saturday, but after an hour outside today I was dripping in sweat and called it. That might also (just maybe, and yes I'm a wimp) my compost pile had a huge fire ant nest that I disturbed. I did two loads and I was like Done! Then I covered it in poison. I hate fire ants and I'm sensitive to their bites/stings, soooo.... yeah I wimped out.
That being said I'm still waiting for my truck to be finished, so you'll have to wait another 2 weeks to see it. Trust me I'm climbing the walls. They have had it for 4 weeks!!! I only had it for 2! I'm not even sure I have a truck at this point. Oh well, all I can do is be patient.
Everything is going well. I've written 17k on Unbalanced Luck so far this month and I'm hoping to get another nice chunk before the month is done. That means this book will be out before summer. I'm in the down hill stretch as it is at 74k right now. I'm excited but we'll see how it goes.
My beta returned Puppet Master to me today and this was her comment:
"After that, I need a drink! The chapters from the cabin on were intense as heck!!!!!!"
Squee. Now to fix everything she noted and get it to the editor. Yay. Remember it is up for preorder if you want to see the drama. Grins.
On that note, Kat Healy's book in this world Hunter's Curse is available now for only .99 cents. That is a great deal for a long book. Check it out if you'd like to see the world of DUO agents.
I'm trying to get more stuff out so maybe I can afford to pay my bills. I don't understand why the electric company won't accept books in exchange for electricity. They just aren't up on current culture. Don't forget my store is fully updated and I can now ship out signed copies and you can get the eBooks of Kaylid there as well as all the Twisted Luck audio books.
EH
I crouched low as the person next to me exploded in power. All over the world people were evolving, becoming superhuman or at least getting abilities that humans had never had before. I peeked out through my fingers as the debris quit falling. It looked like this person had some control over earth or telekinesis or something. Everything rose around them as they floated off the ground.
You never got more than one power and the majority of the time the evolution was explosive and obvious. How you used it was what determined your effectiveness.
As the newly evolved floated there agents in their trademark blue and green spandex were racing toward the area. In minutes the person would be whisked away, the damage would be repaired and we would go on with our lives. Whether they would depended a lot on their power. Some were regarded as too dangerous and as far as I knew they were never seen again.
I stood up, shook the dust off my coat and kept walking. The theory was eventually everyone would evolve, already they were calling those people the EH, Evolved Humans. I had a personal bet with myself that by the end of next year it would be the EH agency, and within five everyone would be regulated.
If you evolved. I figured in another decade those not evolving would be second or third class citizens. Already we had super-villlains and more spectacular crimes, with just as spectacular rescues and heroes. My world was changing and I couldn't decide how I felt about it.
The thing was, not everyone's evolution was explosive or obvious. And not all powers were earth-shaking. Take mine for example: I could be invisible. I don't mean you couldn't see me, but when I wanted I wasn't there. Cameras passed over me, people looked right past me, even animals didn't see or smell me. They would move around me, but it was like I was an object, not a person.
It wasn't that impressive of a power - except I could do anything and not even computers would see me. What I couldn't decide was: did I want to be a villain or an upstanding citizen?

Yoga is good? I've only been twice so I really can't say more than that. Now back to weekend chores.
