Mixing up worlds and genres
Thank you for all the love you've shown the Noble's Luck trilogy. I am glad you enjoyed it. Now I haven't been resting on my laurels (that would be uncomfortable) but I've been racing ahead on books. Cori at Large (CaL) book 1 is done. I have a list of short stories I'll write that are scenes in these books that Cori isn't in. Just for fun and to make the world a bit richer. CaL 2 is at 16k as of Friday, so it is coming, just slowly.
My epic fantasy Exile's Refrain is back from the beta's and I'm starting to edit it, then I'll get it to the editor(the amazing John Hartness). Hopefully he will love it and have it back to me by the end of May. Which then means I should be able to get it out in early June. But as always this is a rough timeline and things can slide around a lot.
Next newsletter will be the last normal one as the two after that will be all about Africa. But I'll tell you more in the next newsletter.
Book Recommendations!
When Bunny is turned into a vampire, her life takes a turn for the weird. Getting a job as the assistant to the sheriff in Portlock seems like a great opportunity. Too bad there is a killer, witches, necromancers, vampires and shifters to deal with as well. Check out The Wayward Werewolf available in KU.
When JJ breaks the rules and rescues a little girl while on a mission, his bosses, teammates, and zombies will be the least of his problems. Check out Roberto and the Seven Women available free from the author!
Weekly Micro Story
Other Side
"You want me to what?" I stared at the glowing rings in front of me.
"Control says walk in and see what happens," came back the voice of my commander.
"Control can stick it up thei-"
"You know your orders," the commander cut me off. Yes everything was recorded and could and would be used against you, but at this moment I didn't care. I'd signed on to explore, not get killed. That thought stopped me in my tracks. The death rate of the Exploration Branch was seventy percent. And I'd known that. So I guess I had signed up to be killed.
I looked back at the rings, the glowing circle, and the stairs that seemed to beckon me. Tehre wasn't anyone left in the Terran System that I cared about and it wasn't like I could quit.
"Fine. Headed in." If I was lucky my death would either not be painful or maybe it would be someplace where the Enlistment Agency couldn't touch me.
Checking my stats I had food and water for a week, and two days worth of oxygen. Nice to know how long I would live if I didn't die in the next two minutes.
I trudged up the stairs, the gravity being a bit higher than Terra norm. Taking one last breath I stood at the glowing crackling circle that showed nothing beyond it.
"Entering now, Commander."
"Good luck." I knew they never expected to see me again.
One step in, falling, spinning, my teeth clamped together so I didn't throw up, then I was on the ground. It looked identical from where I'd been, except there was another space-suited figure looking at me. It moved closer and I was still too winded to be scared.
Lowering its helmet to mine I heard, "Hello?"

For those keeping track I'm at 210k so far this year. I really need to focus these next few weeks because AFRICA!!! I'll work on getting the paper copies of Noble's Luck into my store by summer. I need Amazon to pay me before I can order too many.
