May your life be boring

I swear that old curse "May you live in interesting times" has been applied to me WAY to much. That or Murphy's Cloak is draped over me. Everyone is okay, but really I should not intimately know the ER's of the FOUR hospitals in driving distance from me, plus FOUR others in downtown Atlanta. As a side note mothers and nose dives on bricks are NOT a good mix. Really I don't need this much drama in my life and the ER until 2 in the morning destroys your weekend to do list. Grumbles.

That all being said I have so much going on I just want to hide. First I have a massive anthology I'm part of. Summer Solstice Shenanigans. No really I am. I wrote this cool story titled Noodle Day.

Here's the tagline: The summer solstice brought dragons and killed her mother, this year she's going to return the favor.

There are a bunch of stories in this anthology and it releases June 21st so get it now! Though I still think mine is one of the best.

But that is just one of the too many things I have going on. The short story Joined is about ready to be pushed up to Amazon for you to read about Jo and Sable's wedding. I'll let you know when that happens. But I also have a 4th of July party to get ready for, I'm making fresh salsa. Then I'm running away for my birthday. This getting old stuff sucks, so I'm going to ignore it by writing and publishing stories. Sounds good to me.

But while you wait for the anthology to drop check out this. The Sword of Varen. Wow. Available for .99 it's on my Kindle waiting for me to read. How can I go wrong with mimic dragons and prophesies?

Then for a slightly different taste - because I don't know about you but sometimes I want something different to read. A Cold Spring is a free reader magnet.

Allium and Maddock's marriage had a chance of healing the rift between two witchy families but the festivities spiral out of control. Time crystals aren't toys, you know. What happened once can happen again.

That's it for me. Enjoy the story and let me know what else you want to see in these newsletters.

Harvest

We thought the planet was uninhabited, intelligent life free, perfect for us after our long journey across the solar systems.

We were wrong.

It was a perfect planet, one where aliens planted their crops and harvested them every few decades. Harvested trees, grass, fish, animals, wiping the planet clean of anything but the seeds to start the process over again.

They were willing to harvest us too.

They dropped on the planet by the thousands, automated drones to reap and gather all their crops. We were simply extra protein for their drones.

And that is the worst part. It is all automated. There is no one to argue with, to please, to beg for the lives of our family and friends. They don't respond to anything.

We brought no weapons, we had nothing but our machines that were meant to build, to repair, to harvest.

So we hide. They don't mine, maybe this is good, maybe not, but it gives us caves to hide in and watch as everything is cleaned off the planet.

Five days. Five days to destroy everything we had spent the last eight years setting up. But they have never messed with humans before.

We saved our machines, our teachers, our science. When they come back they will find out humans don't just fold. We will either reach an accord with them or they will find out exactly how lethal humans can be.

We will be ready for the next harvest, and we will harvest them.

I hope you liked! I'm off to write, market, and try to stay sane. Check out the Libertycon Virtual Con and see my panels. I'm on one with Patricia Briggs! SQUEEE!
