Life Goals

I can't wait to travel again. My perfect life is going from country to country, spending a few weeks there exploring, writing, eating, then go someplace else. Too bad I still have a day job, a mother to take care of, a garden that is vexing me, and cats that think I am their servant.

Someday, maybe. At the very least I'd like to do two weeks a year some place else. Where are your favorites?

I'm going full steam ahead with everything, but I'd love to get some feedback from you. If over a 100 subscribers fill out this survey, one of them will win a free signed paperback of their choice! Take the survey here and let me know what you think.

After you do that, take a look at these two books. Never know where your next tumble into a wonderland will be.

I've never been a fan of the idea of living forever, always thought it was too much of a horror story. But this glimpse into the future seems way too realistic to ignore. I think I'll read this one soonish. The Vials of Our Wrath, governments, agencies, and one woman trying to stop it all.

The midlife paranormal stuff has been very hot lately, and I'll admit to being suckered into them. It's nice reading about people my age, not just the hot young twenty-year-olds. Here you have vampires and the PTA. Personally I think the PTA is worse. Check out Vexed by Vampires.

Here is this weeks story, and don't forget to fill out the survey!

Quest

"I know Rushesbirds, they look like prey down there, searching for us." Mona leaned against her beastmate and stared. She was far from home and had not realized the appearance of Rushes would cause such an uproar. The people here did not know the magic of the beasts or that land, but that didn't mean they weren't dangerous.

~Hunt?~ Rushes asked, no hunger in his voice.

"I think not. They have throwing sticks and we did not come here to make enemies but friends." Though from their reaction to simple beastmate, not one of the great ones, could they be friends?

~Fear spicy.~

Mona snorted. "Yes, I suppose it is. Come, we have much to do." She turned and headed back to the small cave they had taken as their home. Reports from scouts were due in shortly and she didn't want to be late.

Settled in the cave she kindled the fire, then placed the talking ring it in. A minute later the face of Elder Vorn appeared.

"All are here. Listen but do not fear. The fire rises high, our peoples doom is nigh. State your tales, we are not frail." Vorn had suffered several brainstrikes and always spoke in rhyme. As annoying habits went, it was tolerable. But the news was all bad. Dead plants, dried up springs, no prey. Their world was dying.

"I have found towns and villages with people scared of beastmates, but they only do marginally better. They say across the sea there is a war causing this. But it is only tales."

There was silence for a long time, then Vorn spoke. "War destroys too much. Go we to heal and such."

Mona blinked, across the seas? She gazed out her cave and wondered, what could they do to save the world?

I'm back to finishing some short stories, then the editor returned Faded Luck. So it's getting closer.
