Hello Dear Friends,
How are you doing?
Today in your second newsletter this week, I will be using this newsletter to share insights on HR trends and topics. Bringing you the best of what's out there on the topic of today, which is "The Future of Work & Hybrid-Working". We are where we are with the Global Health pandemic. What is certain is that a blend of hybrid-working is here to stay, not simply because of necessity, but also because your amazing talent, or those that you desire to hire want to adopt this way of working for a better work-life balance and quality of life.
So today, I'm going to be sharing with you my insights and a round-up on the best insights on "The Future of Work & Hybrid-Working" focussing on 4 key areas. See the list noted below:
1 Employees are preferring Hybrid-Working:
According to the Accenture's Future of Work Report April 2021, "A majority of workers (83%) prefer a hybrid work model, but a variety of factors influence their ability to thrive, whether they’re onsite or off." What is your organisation doing to embed remote-working?
Here are a few key insights from their report:
- "Responsible leaders must move beyond physical location to shape the future of work by giving people resources tailored to their needs."
- "We found that 63% of high-growth companies have already adopted a “productivity anywhere” workforce model."

2 Should employees have the right to Remote Working only?
According to Gartner, "39% of knowledge workers could leave if you insist on a ‘hard return’ to fully on-site work."
You may be facing questions in your organisation around, why should "I return to the Office" if I can do my work effectively from home? You and your organisation need to have an official policy on remote or hybrid-working that you clearly communicate to your employees, which also stipulates any exclusions or exemptions to your stated policy.

3 A More Human Workplace for 2022?
The name of this Newsletter is called, "Back to Human" and that refers to putting the Human, and the emotions of being a sentient human being back into the heart of HR.
According to Huler, The workplace in 2022 will be more emotional and employees will expect support as standard for their mental health and well-being. Is your organisation equipped to cope with the demands of employees and talent that don't want bean bags or pizza, but mental health support and guidance? Check out their other 3 trends for the workplace this year.

4 Mental Health and Employee Well-Being:
My key take-away's which I shared on employee well-being in the hybrid-working world can be summarised below:
"Finally whilst HR has a big role to play in this I agree that “Managers are on the front lines of employees’ day-to-day experiences, which means their actions have a significant impact on employee burnout and well-being. To improve outcomes, managers should focus their attention in three key areas: modelling work-life boundaries, supporting employee well-being, and ensuring that performance is evaluated based on results.” Managers, leaders and HR should lead by example in this regard." Check out the 3 ways to prevent employee burnout for HR leaders in the article.
