Why do I default to bias when I don't understand something?

Hello Dear Friends,

I hope you're well.

I start this email with the famous quote by Donald Rumsfeld, Former Secretary of State for Defence, United States.

There are unknown, unknowns.

He said this at a press briefing which was about the lack of information about Iraq having "Weapons of Mass Destruction".

And this is applicable in everyday life and especially when we think about what we don't know or understand.

If you don't know something or understand something you tend to assume "that thing is wrong or unusual". Because we don't yet have information or understanding or to process what we are seeing, hearing or experiencing.

Which brings me to why I am curating the NeuroDiversity in Focus events and research. It is to bring about more understanding of "invisible disabilities" in the workplace, to share the lived experience of Senior Professionals in a safe space and for us together to create more understanding and support at work. In addition to identifying good practice and where there are gaps which my product - The Neurodiversity Toolkit can help to support more inclusive workplaces where all can thrive.

There are 4 ways to get involved:
