Hello Dear Friends,
How are you doing?
I'm not going to extoll the virtues of why diversity makes you and your company more money! I'm taking that as read!
Rather, I'm going to talk about something else instead that could be contributing to your underrepresented "talent drain". Yes, there are many reasons why an employee may choose to leave an organisation. However if we are considering Black and People of Colour employees leaving your organisation, then we need to consider, "The Emotional Tax".
What is "The Emotional Tax"?
“This emotional tax is defined as ‘the heightened experience of being treated differently from peers due to race/ethnicity or gender, triggering adverse effects on health and feelings of isolation and making it difficult to thrive at work.” Source Catalyst Report 2016

Here are 4 ways it could present itself in your employees:
❌ Burnout
❌ Stress
❌ Perfectionism
❌ Depression
It's not something that will present itself uniformly in your employees. So what remedies are there?
I shared 2 of them in my LinkedIn post today: HERE
