Hello Dear Friends,
I hope you're well.
I recently shared a post on LinkedIn which talked about some common myths and miss interpretations of the Equalities Act 2010 in the UK.
The confusion stems from the wording which does not specifically mention neurodiversity but does mention physical disability.
However that interpretation it is incorrect that is ONLY covering physical disabilities.
You can check out the myths and FACTS from that post: HERE
The ADHD Masterclass recently took place and a replay and the FREE Resource list is available on request.
This month is both Dyslexia Week 2nd - 9th Oct and ADHD Awareness Month.
And to raise awareness on both of those topics I'm going to share 3 facts about Dyslexia and ADHD which you may find interesting.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia ranges from mild to severe. Around 40% of people with dyslexia also have ADHD. And those with dyslexia use about 5 times more energy to complete mental tasks. Source
Dyslexia is actually about information processing. Dyslexic people may have difficulty processing and remembering information they see and hear, which can affect learning and the acquisition of literacy skills. Dyslexia can also impact on other areas such as organisational skills. Source
Dyslexia is not tied to IQ - Einstein was dyslexic and had an estimated IQ of 160 Source
3 Types of ADHD
- ADHD, combined type. Characterized by impulsive and hyperactive behaviors as well as inattention and distractibility.
- ADHD, impulsive/hyperactive type. Characterized by impulsive and hyperactive behaviors without inattention and distractibility.
- ADHD, inattentive and distractible type. Characterized predominately by inattention and distractibility without hyperactivity.
