The Black Confessions #9

Hello Dear Friends,
How are you doing?
I'm excited and I am gearing up for this month's Masterclass, which the topic is Cultural Identity & Career Progression.
So I've been starting to think about what is cultural identification and how does it define us and what are its implications for career and life success.
Big questions I know!
However, one thing that we all enjoy is having fun with our cultural identity and making playful jokes that are harmless.
There is a digital platform called Black Ballad for Black Women. There's an interesting feature they have on their Instagram channel called, "Today's Confessions". All of the confessions are on topics that are stereotypically things or topics that Black Women are "commonly able to do".
Confession #9 is a Black Woman who's confession is not being able to handle or enjoy spicy food. The point here is that it's something that is typically something that a Black Women would be able to do.
And it got me thinking! Is liking spicy food a culturally identifying thing? Or is it not? Is just like Marmite, something you like or you don't like?
We'll be digging deep into this very interesting topic in the Masterclass.
For now, I ask you to hit reply with "I love spice" or "No Spice" and let me know which side of the spice debate you're on!
Warm Regards,
Ekua
