Writing to Enhance Reality
Aug 10, 2023 3:45 pm
Hey there!
I think at this point you may realize that there is no such thing as a 'low key' week for this author. But that is part of why I started The Casual Author Podcast, to let you know that even busy authors have a place in this world. Whatever your circumstances, if you have a dream, you have what you need to chip away at building the pathway to making that dream a reality.
My Progress This Week
Dragonblooded is official passed on to the line editor, which is both relieving and nerve wracking. I've been beating the manuscript to death over the past few weeks in Pro-Writing Aid as well as from amazing comments and feedback from the BETA readers! I know some of the readers are still working through it (no rush, I appreciate the time you're taking!), but the line edits will help freshen it up even more. If it turns out I get those back before BETAs are done, I'll just pop in the cleaner version to make your reading experience even better.
Book three of The Kids of Cybercity is rapidly approaching its completed phase. This feels very surreal. If you ever have the chance to co-author a book with someone, I highly recommend it. Not only has it been a challenging and creatively rewarding experience, but it's helped me learn so much about how I can improve my own writing process for future projects. I suspect that we'll be done with draft one of this final book in the next couple weeks. Then it's time to pull out the editing bat for some manuscript beating. :)
So I need your help with something. I have so many ideas of where I could go with my projects, but I'd love to hear from you! What books are you passionate about reading right now? Are you looking for the next epic fantasy 'fat book'? Or are you looking for some easy-read YA Dystopians? I'd love to hear what you, as the readers, would love to see more of!
A call for Reviews
If you've had a chance to dive into any of my stories, I'd be so grateful to you if you would give them an honest review. There's so many authors out there, like me, who are trying to teach online stories how they should show our books to more readers, and sometimes they just don't want to behave.
Each and every review is like a golden ticket to the algorithm, and to the author's soul. I wish I could say I didn't take a look at each of my books on a regular basis to see new reviews, but I'm not that strong. XD
If you find that reviews take a bit too long, not a problem! Ratings are a few clicks and can still be instrumental in helping authors progress in their careers.
Signed books available
Sometimes you just need that good, solid, physical book in your hands to put a smile on your face. It's an extra bonus if that book is signed by the author themselves! I'm thrilled to say that my new site finally has everything in order for you to grab autographed copies of my books sent directly from me.
It's never too late to grab a signed copy.
A Gathering of a Lifetime
This past weekend I had the chance to get together with my siblings and their families. It was the first time in three years we've all been in the same place at the same time. You can imagine the chaos and fun of having all 22 grandchildren run around together. Fortunately, we have the space on the homestead, so they had a blast.
One thing we learned during this time is that we live close to some pretty amazing places! We ventured as a caravan to Mesa Falls and enjoyed some excellent views, greenery, and the deafening sound of the water. Taking this time away from technology and the worries of the world was exactly what I needed to get back into the swing of thing.
And Now for the Free Books of the week!
warm regards,
Dan
