Big Changes and Good Progress

Hey there!

You may have noticed that I somehow managed to miss my last email (you'll see why in just a minute). Now that I'm back, I'll try to not get too crazy with the updates. The biggest update, in lieu of Ginger dying, is that we miraculously found another cow that fits our family and our needs. Her name is Lucy. She's much bigger than Ginger and she has horns, which is taking some getting used to. More than anything, she's six years younger than Ginger and boy does it show in her actions and enthusiasm. She's got spunk, that's for sure.

She's still learning to play nice with Mac (and by still learning I mean showing the baby cow the business end of her horns on a regular basis) but hopefully they learn to chill out soon. They both seem content out to pasture at least.

Despite constantly saying we'd like to scale back on our garden for bandwidth reasons, we never fail to add more to the production. We added four new beds to the fray and continue to grow far too many plants. But it gives the kids a chance to work outside and we like the fresh food.

Lastly, we've entered meat chicken months. We had 50 meat chickens delivered a couple weeks ago, which we'll grow out for eight weeks before they get to put in the freezer. My chores list reaches the longest during this period but I just have to remember it slows down eventually. Also, I try not to think about how this puts our total chicken count over 100.

My Progress This Week

I was notified by my calendar that I have to kick myself into high gear with editing of Dwarf Blooded if I want to get the third book to you by September 24, so I buckled down and got back to editing this last week. Now that I'm just over half way through that first edit I have to say I'm thrilled with how it's turning out. The main character is very unique and I've had to enter the mind of a very different kind of situation for this one. I think you'll love it though.

Before I kicked myself into editing, I was making awesome progress on book five (the second to last book in the series!), Elf Blooded. I'm at just under 34,000 words on that one, which is good considering how much further ahead that puts me than my schedule.

Just a note that in my Ream Community (https://reamstories.com/dankenner), chapters 6-9 of Dwarf Blooded are now available. If you join the community (for a few dollars), you get to start reading the next story a whole six months before it comes out. What's not to like about that?!

Some books to check out!
