Down to Business
I talked about pivoting your service or business instead of closing shop and I promised to share my story.
Here’s a glimpse into my journey:
Over the past 10 years, I’ve built various online businesses. Some won big, others were hard lessons. Some are still incubating, and 2025 will tell us where they’ll go.
Here’s the takeaway from one experience:
We launched an info-product business in a niche we thought had massive potential. We sold $5k in 3 months, but after that… crickets. Why?
- Churn rate skyrocketed: Customers couldn’t follow the product because it was too technical.
- We forgot the golden rule: KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
After a year of testing, revamping, and listening to feedback, we found what worked. Now, this business generates recurring income. It's too niche but still recurring.
But entrepreneurs are always on to the next thing, so we’re planning to sell it in 2025.
The lesson? If we’d quit too soon, we’d never have uncovered the problems or built a sustainable model.
Does this resonate with you?
- Are you pivoting or quitting an offer?
- Thinking about leaving freelancing?
Hit reply—I’d love to hear your story.
Next Email
I’ll share when to quit and why it’s important. Stay tuned.
Signing off this 2024,
and staying grounded,
Margaret
