Ready to Pivot

Dec 22, 2024 10:52 am

Hi there,

Margaret here.

Quick update: Iā€™m writing again!

Three emails a month packed with marketing anecdotes and strategies for freelancers and indie biz owners who want to GET PAID (often). Real-time(ish), written by yours truly.

Know someone whoā€™d enjoy this? Forward this email or share this link with them.

Why youā€™re getting this email?

You signed upā€”maybe for our courses, freebies, podcast, coupons, job listings, or something at Article and Design community. Sound familiar?

Now, down to business:

A freelancer asked me: I am not getting enough sales, Margaret.

Should I pivot? Shift focus? Change everything?

Hereā€™s the thing: A pivot usually means youā€™ve hit a wall.

No demand. Wrong idea. Orā€¦ maybe not? But the freelancer mentioned "not getting enough..." So there's an echo, if you will.

The real question is: Have you explored all your angles?

Imagine a freelancer offering custom caricatures for family milestones.

In the Philippines, where every birthday, wedding, and graduation is a celebration, thereā€™s demand. But why no success?

Hereā€™s what to check:

  1. Your message ā€“ Does it click? Are people saying, ā€œThis is perfect for Mamaā€™s 60th!ā€
  2. Your platforms ā€“ Are you hanging out where your audience is? Facebook groups, Insta reels, you know the drill.
  3. Your presentation ā€“ Is your order page clean and inviting? Does it scream ā€œBuy me now!ā€?
  4. Your creation ā€“ Is your product meaningful? Does it capture that Pinoy warmth and joy?
  5. Your offer ā€“ Have you really refined these, or just skimmed?

Refining takes time. But when it clicks? Magic. šŸŖ„

If it does, tell me! Iā€™d love to hear about it.

Next email: How I pivoted one of my businesses, why Iā€™m selling it, and what I learned. Stay tuned.
