My #1 Recovery Tip
Apr 05, 2025 3:34 pm
Hi ,
I don't often send emails, but I wanted to share my advice on an issue that I have been working on a lot with my one-to-one clients.
If you have read my blog, you know I talk a lot about acceptance and in my opinion it is the most important tool in recovery, but also the tool that is most misunderstood.
Most clients I talk to say they practice acceptance, but when we talk deeper, they almost always practice acceptance*
*Accepting things on the condition I get better.
Conditional acceptance doesn't help you, it hinders your recovery. If we only accept our anxiety on the basis that we feel better afterwards, we are doomed to self scan and monitor our progress. Once our acceptance stops working, we will ultimately begin to feel more anxious and the cycle of worrying about worrying will continue.
I know this is an abstract idea, but it is one you should reflect upon in your personal journey.
If there is anything you want me to cover in a future email please feel free to send me a message.
All the best,
Roy
Ps. I have 1 coaching spot opening up on April 8th, please drop me an email if you are interested.
