Happy August!
Aug 08, 2024 11:30 am
Hello, my darlings!
I hope August is treating you well so far. It's my birthday month, though I don't have big plans for the day. I'll probably embark on a baking project to make myself a cake (unless it's miserably hot and the thought of the oven being on makes me want to weep...). I'm sure I'll share pictures on social media unless the whole thing is a miserable failure!
I'm enjoying some quiet this first week of August. Watching the Olympics a bunch. I love the gymnastics (and this year's US teams were so amazing to watch, not only because of their performance but also because of their joy and their bonds with and support of each other), but I also really enjoy turning it on and finding some random sport (some I did not even know were in the Olympics) and getting completely sucked in. What am I going to do when it ends?
Just a heads up for September—which I keep thinking is far away, but apparently it is not—I'll be participating in Rainbow Space Magic again this year. This is a virtual con held over zoom that is free to attend. It brings together so many authors of LGBTQ spec fic and is so much fun. The schedule hasn't been released yet, so I don't have that information for you, but you can find general info and registration at the link below.
Writing updates: I'm still working on the next Dragons of Ivria book, To Know a Dragon Spy, and have figured out a few things that were tripping me up. Yay! I'm still pushing to get this written and into your hands as soon as possible, and I'm hoping to read some of it at Rainbow Space Magic next month. Once it's finished, my plan is still to write the first book in a new witch series while I doing some planning for the third Dragons of Ivria book.

Once upon a time, before the hunts, dragons were plentiful in the world. Now they exist only in legend…except in the land of Ivria.
Featured Backlist Book of the Month
Two princes will risk anything to save their kingdoms...and be together.
Currently Reading
I adored the first book in this series, and it has taken me far too long to get to the second. These are Gaslamp mysteries set in a colony orbiting Jupiter with a Holmes/Watson-like dynamic and a second chance sapphic romance. And seriously, so good.
Monthly Book Rec
My library hold on The Familiar finally came in last month and I devoured it. This book is a perfect mix of historical fiction and fantasy and a bit of romance. Highly recommended.
