Hello ,
Those of us who have experienced the demands of caregiving for a loved one with dementia understand that its toll goes beyond the physical. Caregivers often experience feelings of exhaustion, loneliness, and occasionally even resentment due to their overwhelming responsibilities. It's essential to acknowledge these emotions as a valid part of the journey, and seek measures such as counseling, support groups, or open discussions to alleviate the stress and help maintain emotional well-being. In our discussion with Kate Hanley, dementia daughter and author of Breakfast Memories: A Dementia Love Story, we explore each of these concepts. In her gentle, affirming storytelling, Kate guides us in reinventing our journeys, to better understand our loved one, and to become better caregivers. Enjoy! And please remember to leave us a review wherever you listen to podcasts.
As always, we would love it if you sent this email to 1-3 people you know need to hear the message, and let us know how you think we can improve the show!

Our Most Recent Author
Patti says:
I was telling the same story that was traditionally written about in books, but I was doing so by sharing videos of my mom and I. I was sharing our laughter, dance parties, art activities, and the hard times. I was sharing our love, while also trying to share the challenges that come along with it.
By sharing our story, I believe that I have helped to change other caregivers/care partnerβs journeys and change the stigma around dementia. I have been able to show that you can truly live your best life despite a dementia diagnosis

Take Two! Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About Dementia (but were afraid to ask) part two
On September 1st, we gathered five of our authors, all living well with dementia, for a candid discussion about their lives with cognitive impairment. This was an invigorating, inspirational conversation, but we goofed. We forgot to hit the record button until we were well into the talk! And we had promised to put out a YouTube video and podcast with this content. Rather than publish a truncated version of this event, the authors have all generously agreed to gather again for a redo on Tuesday, October, 24 at 10:30 am EST. This time, we will be sure to hit record at the onset of our time together! If you attended the previous event, you can be assured of gaining the replay of this one. If you were unable to attend the previous event, you now have a second chance to join in. Weβre grateful to our authors for sharing even more of their precious time with us, and look forward to seeing you in our Zoom Room.
