Hello ,

Welcome back to AlzAuthors! We’re winding down 2024 with our latest podcast featuring Malia Kline, author of "Sisterly Shove: A Fight to Death Against Pancreatic Cancer and Dementia." In this deeply personal conversation, we discuss her co-caregiving journey for both parents with her cross-country sister, Diane Stinson, a physician. Hosted by Marianne Sciucco and Christy Byrne Yates, with co-host Malika Moore, the conversation covers the emotional and practical realities of coordinating elder care when two very different care philosophies collide.

3 Key Takeaways:

  • Family Collaboration: Different perspectives can lead to better care strategies. Malia and her sister grew closer despite their differing opinions on their parent's care.
  • Early Conversations: Having discussions with loved ones about their wishes for care in case of incurable diseases or dementia can greatly help families prepare and make informed decisions.
  • Emotional Complexity: Caregiving often brings a mix of emotions, including relief and guilt. It's essential to acknowledge and process these feelings as part of the caregiving journey.

Join the conversation and explore more at AlzAuthors.com for resources, events, and support. Let's continue to support each other in this journey of caregiving.
