Announcing Custom Caregiver Collections

Dear AlzAuthors,
Since 2016, AlzAuthors has sought, vetted and collated your noteworthy books about Alzheimer’s and dementia, written from your own personal experience. We believe your stories have the power to save lives. Caregivers, at their most vulnerable, don’t know where to turn, but your books provide a hand to hold.
Thank you for allowing us to light the path for others by elevating the wonderful books you’ve written. We thank you so much for your generosity in sending us your books for the Traveling Libraries.
Covid has impacted the number of events we’ve been able to attend. Some of our libraries are active with robust schedules, but others have naturally slowed, and we don’t know what the future will hold.
Our team at AlzAuthors has been working to develop a new initiative to address this situation.
With the 300+ books in the AlzAuthors Bookstore, we feel perfectly positioned to offer Custom Caregiver Collections. These collections will be made up of 15 books or more and will be suited for Senior Care Communities, doctors’ offices, in-home care organizations, Memory Cafes, or professional or personal libraries.
The goal of Custom Caregiver Collections is to provide
your real books
to real people
in real places.
I plan to transition the books from my Ohio Traveling Library into Custom Caregiver Collections to be placed in Senior Care Communities in Ohio as lending libraries so they can be borrowed, read, and loved by families of residents and staff.
Our less active Traveling Libraries may do something similar, all with the intention of having more people engage with your books.
AlzAuthors’ assistant manager Susan Landeis, and her husband Randy, have crafted beautiful table-top book shelves with AlzAuthors branding, to be placed as lending libraries within memory care units. These shelves, as well as your books, will raise awareness of the cause and purpose of AlzAuthors for those who are in the trenches and provide caregivers and families with quality resources.
I feel in my heart that this is where your beautiful books belong.
I will always have a Traveling Library, as I bring in about 20 books per year in the acquisitions process for AlzAuthors. I will eagerly travel with them when I am invited, and after a time, those will be transitioned to Custom Caregiver Collections as well.
A generous donor has covered the costs of creating ten Custom Caregiver Collections. These collections will serve as the prototype available to care communities across the country. We are so thankful!!
We are moving toward our goal of putting even more of your books into the hands of caregivers and family members who need them. Thank you for trusting us with this important mission!
Stay tuned as we
- Share photos of our first ten Custom Caregiver Collections
- Bring you news about how you can place an AlzAuthors Custom Caregiver Collection in a location of your choice and
- Share ideas for our plan to market Custom Caregiver Collections to physical locations so your books can be borrowed, touched, read and loved by those who need them most.
Sincerely,
Jean Lee,
On behalf of the AlzAuthors Team
