Dear Friend of AlzAuthors,

At AlzAuthors we're thrilled to connect with caregivers, those living with memory impairment, senior communities, physician's offices, long-term caregivers and many more on a variety of levels. Our goal is to help increase the discoverability of dementia resources written from personal experience for the benefit of those currently on the journey. As our collections of books, blogs and podcasts grow, there are boundless ways we can support your interest in dementia as well as your work.

Here are just a few:

-We are available for virtual presentations at your conferences.

-We can help inservice your care staff through virtual presentations.

-We can take part in caregiver support groups.

-If you'd like to start a personal, professional, or community library we would be happy to confer with you for a grouping of books custom-made to fit your needs.

If you have an idea or two, we'd love to Zoom chat to learn how we can be of service to you.

You can reach us at alzauthors@gmail.com

Now, on to our new offerings for this week.

Kim Best Untangles the Art of Mediation in Dementia Care

When a family member is diagnosed with dementia, a number of complicated issues may arise: family conflict, the re-emergence of old slights and misunderstandings, disagreements on how to provide care or navigate the journey, and more. Mediator and conflict coach Kimberly Best is passionate about helping others resolve such conflicts in a productive, non-litigious way, and in finding optimal solutions to problems for all parties involved. Kim is the author of How to Live Forever, A Guide to Writing the Final Chapter of Your Life Story

In this episode, we discuss the value of professional mediation in dementia care, why your story is your legacy, how to control the final chapter in your life, and the fine line in caregiving between hope and regret. Start listening!

ICYMI: Our Management Team is Growing

image

AlzAuthors welcomes Rosanne Corcoran to the team as an Assistant Manager to help launch, grow, and foster our mission, including helping with our virtual caregiver events (4 this year!), finding conferences to spread the word about our resources, launching an online store for apparel and other swag, and more. We're thrilled to have her passion, spirit, and insights to extend our reach.

Rosanne knows the difficulties and loneliness that Alzheimer's caregivers experience: She cared for her own mother at home for six years. The lack of meaningful Alzheimer’s resources available to her on her journey motivated her to create, host, and produce Daughterhood The Podcast: For Caregivers, Rosanne is also a Circle Leader for the Daughterhood Circle for family caregivers in Pennsylvania, with virtual meetings twice a month. She joined AlzAuthors in 2020, and was featured on the blog in July, 2021 with her podcast and blog, Hey Roe, which addresses the personal side of caregiving and offers resources.

Rosanne is happy to speak to caregivers regarding their own journey. She offers support, validation and resources. Contact her at rosannecc@gmail.com, and follow her on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.
