Dear AlzAuthor,

2022 is taking off with lots of engagement with our authors, including Writers Group Live!, the Round Robin Review Circles, and donations to our new Traveling Library in Georgia. We're thrilled to connect with you on a variety of levels, to not only help increase the discoverability of your dementia resource but to elevate the mission of AlzAuthors. There are a number of ways to engage with us (see below) and if you have an idea or two of your own please let us know.

This week's new author, Dave Meurer, is an acclaimed humor writer. He has been featured on Focus on the Family and many other publications, and has even done some work for the United States Congress and the California State Senate.

In his latest book, New Every Day: Navigating Alzheimer's With Grace and Compassion, he gives comfort to caregivers through using his characteristic humor to write honestly about the care he and his wife, Dale, provided to his mother-in-law, Karin.

Kim Best Untangles the Art of Mediation in Dementia Care

When a family member is diagnosed with dementia, a number of complicated issues may arise: family conflict, the re-emergence of old slights and misunderstandings, disagreements on how to provide care or navigate the journey, and more. Mediator and conflict coach Kimberly Best is passionate about helping others resolve such conflicts in a productive, non-litigious way, and in finding optimal solutions to problems for all parties involved. Kim is the author of How to Live Forever, A Guide to Writing the Final Chapter of Your Life Story

In this episode, we discuss the value of professional mediation in dementia care, why your story is your legacy, how to control the final chapter in your life, and the fine line in caregiving between hope and regret. Start listening!

You Can Support Us on Amazon

image

Did you know AlzAuthors is an Amazon Associate? This means we receive income from Amazon whenever someone purchases a book from our collection. How? We attach a special link to every book, and use that link whenever we promote that book on our website and on social media, the podcast, everywhere we can. When a potential buyer clicks on that link to enter the Amazon store, we receive a small commission on anything they purchase through that link for the next 24 hours, for example 4% on Kindle books and 4.5% on physical books. Sounds cool, right? How does this affect you? It doesn't. You will incur no expense for us to receive a commission for promoting your book.

You can also use this special link in your own promotions to drive commissions to AlzAuthors. If you would like to support us in this way, please send us an email at alzauthors@gmail.com and we will send you "your" link. Attach it to wherever you would attach the link to your book on Amazon: social media, website, emails, etc.

We thank you for your support. Every little bit helps us to continue our mission to provide caregivers with quality resources for their dementia journeys.

Our New Traveling Library is Growing

ο»Ώimage

Big thanks to all of the generous authors who have contributed to the new traveling library in Valdosta, Georgia. Debra Tann, author of The Race of Dementia, is having a blast receiving the beautiful books, which offer a wealth of knowledge and support to caregivers. Our libraries visit Alzheimer's and dementia caregiving events so caregivers can see, feel, and touch the resources available through AlzAuthors. It is not too late to include your book in this library and in others spread across the US in seven states, including North Carolina, Ohio, New York, Montana, Texas, and California. If you would like to donate to Debra's, please mail your book to:

ICYMI: Our Management Team is Growing

image

AlzAuthors welcomes Rosanne Corcoran to the team as an Assistant Manager to help launch, grow, and foster our mission, including helping with our virtual caregiver events (4 this year!), finding conferences to spread the word about our resources, launching an online store for apparel and other swag, and more. We're thrilled to have her passion, spirit, and insights to extend our reach.

Rosanne knows the difficulties and loneliness that Alzheimer's caregivers experience: She cared for her own mother at home for six years. The lack of meaningful Alzheimer’s resources available to her on her journey motivated her to create, host, and produce Daughterhood The Podcast: For Caregivers, Rosanne is also a Circle Leader for the Daughterhood Circle for family caregivers in Pennsylvania, with virtual meetings twice a month. She joined AlzAuthors in 2020, and was featured on the blog in July, 2021 with her podcast and blog, Hey Roe, which addresses the personal side of caregiving and offers resources.

Rosanne is happy to speak to caregivers regarding their own journey. She offers support, validation and resources. Contact her at rosannecc@gmail.com, and follow her on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.
