Hello ,

How can fiction help us understand Alzheimer's and dementia and the struggle of caregiving? Quite well when the story is compelling, woven together with drama and humor and filled with relatable characters. Ruth Stevens originally wrote “Stage Seven” as a play that was performed four times before she reworked it into her debut novel.

The story draws us in immediately with lively characters who’ve all been impacted by the devastation of later stage Alzheimer’s of a loved one. We feel deeply how this disease is truly a family matter. While this is a work of fiction, Ruth includes accurate information about disease progression and treatment that is surprisingly instructive. You may find yourself at once challenged and sympathetic as events unfold, but you will want to know how it all ends.

As part of AlzAuthor’s collaboration with Aging & Amazing, this Podcast of March’s Books & Chit Chat includes a lively discussion with Ruth Stevens, members of AlzAuthors and readers. Listen in and enjoy being swept away with a beautiful work of fiction.
