Question of the Week

Q: NCAA announced that student-athletes can now start accepting some types of money for their athletic abilities. What does that mean for you?

A: This past week, the NCAA made this shocking announcement. Student-athletes can now accept money from endorsement deals, public funding platforms, and more. This news certainly is exciting for hockey players, but there are still a lot of grey areas. So, until things get cleared up, we believe that you should be cautious for the time being. For now, still adhere to the guidelines we mentioned in the past:

  • Don't play Major Jr. (also follow the 48h rule if going to camps)
  • Don't Gamble
  • Don't receive any types of payments for your athletic abilities until more clear guidelines are published.

If the NCAA does decide to further go down this path, this will change a lot of things for hockey players, especially when it comes to Major Jr. & NCAA Eligibility. Only time will tell what will happen, and we'll be there to inform you!
