Tip of the Week

We get a lot of questions from players & parents on how to proceed with education during Jr. Hockey. Assuming you've graduated from high school, here are the key things to consider.

First, you want to make sure that you take care of your SAT/ACT before anything else. Some players opt to take it in the summer before they start their Jr. hockey season, but others study for it in the Fall and take it in December, which is fine too. What's important is that you have a dedicated study period of about 2-4 months before you take the test. To study, you can use the company we work with, ePrep, or you can use any other company of your choice. To register for the SAT, you can click here; for the ACT, you can click here.

Next, you want to register for university courses; this ensures that you're getting ahead in your future bachelor's degree and not wasting your free time during Jr. hockey. With your university courses during Jr. hockey, there are 2 things to consider. First, make sure your courses are PART-TIME to keep your NCAA Eligibility. Next, in most cases, you'll want to take online courses due to the amount of travelling you'll be doing in Jr. Hockey.

Overall, if you use your extra free time in Jr. Hockey wisely by continuing your education, you'll get a head start in your future full-time degree and most likely find the entire Jr. experience much more rewarding.
