Courage to Start Small

God often begins big stories with quiet obedience.

Hi ,

Today’s devotional speaks to beginnings especially the ones that feel insignificant.

Scripture:

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10

We often underestimate small starts because we’re focused on visible outcomes. We want progress that feels impressive. Movement that looks certain. Results that validate the effort. But God delights in beginnings.

Small steps are not signs of weak faith; they are evidence of obedience. That quiet prayer, that idea you keep revisiting, that nudge to reach out, apply, write, forgive, or try again. Heaven notices what feels ordinary to you.

Every meaningful journey with God begins the same way: with a simple yes.

If you have been waiting for clarity, confidence, or perfect conditions before starting, today is your reminder that courage doesn’t always feel bold. Sometimes it feels hesitant but willing. And that’s enough for God to work with.

You don’t need to finish everything today.

You just need to begin something faithfully.

Reflection:

What “small” step is God inviting you to take in this season?

As you move through the day, resist the urge to minimize obedience. Start where you are. God will meet you there.

Cheering you on,

Agatha
