When Doing Good Leaves You Empty

You were never meant to pour from an empty place.

Hi ,

Today’s devotional speaks to a quiet struggle many faithful people carry.

Scripture:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Doing good can be deeply fulfilling, but it can also be draining when it’s disconnected from rest and intimacy with God.

You can love sincerely, serve faithfully, and still find yourself exhausted. That doesn’t mean your heart is wrong. It may mean your soul needs replenishment. Even good things, when done without margin, can slowly empty us.

God never asked you to do everything.

He asked you to abide.

When service replaces presence, burnout quietly takes root. But when your doing flows from being with God, strength is renewed and joy returns. The harvest promised in Scripture isn’t sustained by striving, it’s sustained by staying connected.

If you have been feeling weary lately, today is not a rebuke. It’s an invitation. An invitation to pause, to breathe, and to let God refill what giving has drained.

Reflection:

What boundary, rest rhythm, or moment of stillness do you need to reintroduce into your life?

As you move through today, remember:

You are allowed to rest.

You are allowed to say no.

You are allowed to be human.

Resting with you,

Agatha
