Welcome back to Cosy Cove, where home is where the heart—and the perfect recipe—belongs!

When food stylist Gemma Thompson returns to her childhood home to help run the Cosy Cove Cafe with her mother, Maggie, the last thing she expects is to fall into a fake relationship with her childhood friend, Logan Harris. It’s meant to stop her mum's matchmaking attempts, but what starts as pretend soon begins to feel surprisingly real.

Enter Matthew Wright, a charismatic chef who recognises Gemma’s talent and offers her everything she thought she wanted: culinary adventure, creative freedom, and a chance to leave Cosy Cove behind again. As Gemma finds herself torn between Matthew’s exciting world and Logan’s steady heart, she must decide what really matters; career success or the true recipe for happiness.

Can Logan find the courage to confess his lifelong feelings before it’s too late? Will Gemma choose ambition over love, or discover that some dreams taste sweeter when shared?

In this heartwarming tale of fake dates turning into real feelings, return to Cosy Cove where love is always on the menu and second chances are served with a side of hope.

Sweet Delights in Cosy Cove is book 4 in my Cosy Cove series (officially book 5 if you count the short story, Cupcakes & Kisses, which I wrote as an introduction to the delightful seaside town of Cosy Cove)

All books can be read as a standalone.

Chaos greeted Gemma as she stepping into the Cosy Cove Cafe.

The teatime rush was in full swing, with a queue stretching to the door. Behind the counter, Beth, her friend from school and owner of Harbour Lights, the candle shop, was attempting to operate the espresso machine. A look of panic swept across her face as it hissed and spluttered.

‘I said a skinny latte, not a flat white,’ an irritated customer complained.

‘I’m so sorry,’ Beth replied, tucking an unruly copper curl behind her ear. ‘Maggie makes it look so easy.’

Orders were piled up on the counter, and the display case of pastries was empty. A small child was crying over a dropped ice cream cone, and someone had spilled coffee on the floor.

‘Mum?’ Gemma called, concerned Maggie might be hobbling around despite her injury. ‘Are you here?’

‘Gemma! Hi,’ Beth said. ‘Maggie’s not here. Roger called, and they’re on their way home from the hospital now. I’m trying my best, but…’ She gestured helplessly at the mounting disaster.

A rhythmic hammering sound came from behind the counter. Gemma frowned, following the noise toward the back of the café.

Rounding the counter, a man knelt on the floor, his back to her as he worked on a loose wooden trim on the counter’s edge. Tools were spread around him, and sawdust sprinkled the floor.

‘Excuse me,’ she began, but her voice was drowned out by the hammering.

She stepped closer and bent down, tapping his shoulder. ‘Hello? Can you—’

The man jerked upright, and his head collided with her chin. The impact sent her stumbling backwards, arms windmilling as she tried to catch her balance. She crashed into the display of muffins behind her, sending them flying in all directions.

Gemma landed on her bottom in a shower of crumbs and blueberries, stunned more by embarrassment than pain.

‘What the—’ The man spun around, hammer still in hand, then froze. ‘Gemma?’

She blinked, recognition dawning as she took in the familiar hazel eyes, now wide with surprise.

‘Logan?’

Logan Harris stood before her, so different from the lanky boy she remembered. His shoulders had broadened considerably, filling out his simple grey t-shirt in a way that made her breath catch. A tool belt hung low on his hips, and a dusting of sawdust clung to his dark blond hair. A thin scar she didn’t remember ran along his jawline, somehow making him look more rugged.

When did Logan get so handsome? So… solid? And those muscles…

Logan’s obvious surprise gave way to poorly concealed amusement, the corner of his mouth twitching up in a familiar way that shot Gemma straight back to childhood.

‘That’s one way to say hello.’ He extended a hand to help her up. ‘Although, I think the muffins got the worst of it.’

His hand was warm and calloused against hers, and much larger than she remembered. He pulled her to her feet with ease, steadying her with his other hand as she wobbled.

‘I didn’t—’ She brushed crumbs from her smart jeans, her cheeks heating. ‘I was trying to get your attention.’

‘Well, you’ve got it.’ His eyes crinkled at the corners as he grinned, accentuating the faint stubble along his jaw. ‘Welcome home, Gem.’

The old nickname caught her off guard. Nobody in the city called her that.

‘I didn’t know you were…’ She gestured at the tools.

‘Fixing things? Yeah, that happens when you become a carpenter and general handyman.’ He bent to pick up a salvageable muffin, handing it to her with mock solemnity. ‘Your crown, Your Highness. Still falling into trouble, I see.’

Despite herself, Gemma laughed. It was their old joke from when she’d fallen into the harbour trying to impress him with her balancing skills on the pier railing. She’d been twelve and furious when he’d pulled her out and called her “Princess” for weeks after.

‘Still making terrible jokes, I see,’ she shot back, finding their old rhythm with surprising ease.
