Finding what you need

Folks,

When it's time to reflect on my 90-day planning cycle, it always seems to come around quickly. The excuses follow: "I'll do it later," "I haven't got time," "I'm too busy," and so on. Then, once I finally dive into it, I'll beat myself up for a while about what was supposed to happen, until it gives me something back.

I'm always amazed at how much has changed and how much has been accomplished. It never fails, and that feels good!

With a busy few months ahead, including the kids' summer holidays and several projects taking off, it's time to decide what happens next. It would be too easy to approach the next quarter with a wave of enthusiasm and make some bold statements. Instead, I've chosen to focus on committed to delivering on the spec sheet I've created for each project. When a project hits its spec, it's out the door; until then, we wait. Since I'm working with a team of freelancers this next quarter, including a voice coach, I can't dictate their timings.

Here are two questions to help if you, like me, are planning:

What do you want the next 90 days to look like?

What do you want the next 90 days to feel like?

It’s hard to imagine that a football coach wants the players they coach to stand around for over 15 minutes in a 60-minute coaching session, but as the research shows, that’s what’s happening.

If you want a playful practice, you know what to do: figure out what you want it to look and feel like, and the rest will follow.

Have a great week,

Simon

P.S. Thank you to those who wrote a testimonial last week. If you have the time this week and you're willing to share a few sentences, please just reply to this email. Thank you.
