Creating the conditions

Folks,
Writing a book is not hard; anyone can do it, but not many can commit to the stress and strains of clearing the space to get the job done. That's emotional labour. The writing itself is a chore.
I was chatting to a friend of mine last week, who has taken the leap and taken on staff. You might be ahead of me here, so bear with me. It's driving him nuts!!
Get out of here.
My man cares deeply about what he does; his staff, not so much.
I asked him if he'd heard of "emotional labour." The stuff of managing your emotions while getting the job done. Like smiling when you pay your staff, even when, especially when, they are cooking your head. You get the idea.
It's not a to-do list or a set of chores — it's the stuff of dealing with the intangibles, the human side of business.
How can you create the conditions where you worry less and people care more?
That’s a great question for coaches, too. The trap, I’ve fallen into more times than I care to mention, is to want it more than the person I’m coaching.
It took me a long time to see that the conditions of practice are designed to save you from yourself.
Simon
P.S. If you're ready to move from idea to execution, let's have that conversation.
