You talking to me?

Folks,

How was your week?

This week, a friend of mine asked for my CV for a project he’s involved with - it’s a chunky monkey: A few thousand miles of jungle trails on a bike with a Netflix crew in tow. I’m not sure what I can add to the party, but it was nice to be asked.

I’m not a big fan of writing a CV, a bio, or any sort of form filing, but this time was different. For me to get the gig, I’d have to beat military personnel with specific skills, so I figured it was best to just say it how it is. Turns out that writing a CV of failures is a thing.

If my experience was anything to go by, I’d recommend it.

Did you know the creator of the film Taxi Driver, Paul Schrader, wrote the Travis Bickle character as therapy? The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro is losing his mind, he’s working nights as a cab driver in New York City and he’s done living amongst the street's low life. He wants to take the “scum of the street.”

Travis gets in shape, picks up a handgun, and shaves his head to a mohawk - no question, he’s a badass. “I wrote about the person I didn’t want to be, I learned about him and why I didn’t want to be him,” says Schrader.”

And the mad part? I know exactly what he means. I wrote the Good Coach Bad Coach Manifesto because I didn't want to go back, just like Schrader, I didn’t want to find out just how bad it could get.

That’s it, folks, shoulders back, and enjoy your week.

Enjoy your week,

Simon
