Hey Sluggos,
It's Sam from the SLUGGER team writing our second dispatch from the void. Arwyn will brighten your day like a random act of kindness and provide some more thoughts as they feel like it.
Updates:
All decisions were sent for our latest submission call! If you submitted and didn't hear anything, please check your spam folder then reach out. We manually send each and every decision one at a time and do our best to keep track of all submissions.
We crossed our 100th overall sale right around the one year mark of forming SLUGGER, which feels like a huge win in indie publshing. More on all this in future dispatches, but this felt like a milestone worth mentioning.
I had a new essay on punk and education that was published over at DIY Conspiracy. They were great to work with and Ghas, founder of the a divided world DIY punk cassette tape label, provided killer artwork for the piece.
Another tabling event complete! We sold 15 copies of SLUGGER, 9 copies of my two zines, and 3 copies of Skin Deep published by Squirm Books which includes my story "Catalytic Converter". We came just short of breaking even after the $125 tabling fee, but it was a good time and got SLUGGER in the hands of some new readers. It was an especially decent outcome given (1) I forgot a table and chair (thanks to my wife and kiddo for bailing me out), (2) I don't know how to set up a tablecloth, and (3) put my knee through the chair as I was just trying to not sit down for the whole day.
