Hello ,
You are making progress.
Yes, whether you choose to believe it or not, or contrary to what you perceive, you are making progress.
You are certainly, 100%, making progress.
These past few weeks, especially over the last weekend, I experienced something I’d call a self-sabotage of my own progress. I looked at myself and thought, “Because I’m not making as much progress as I want to, that must mean I’m not making any progress.”
Almost immediately, I stopped celebrating the progress I was making. I started making the wrong choices because I felt things weren’t moving fast enough. So I sat down and did nothing.
Let me put this in perspective.
If you’re attempting to climb a flight of 100 stairs, and you take one step every day, by day 100, you’ll be at the top.
But if you choose to stand still because that one step doesn’t feel like enough, then at the end of 100 days—you’ll still be at the beginning.
Now imagine another scenario where you take one step every day for 50 days. You’re halfway through. Then suddenly, you stop celebrating your progress. You say, The stairs are too many. I’m not getting there fast enough. So you turn around and start walking back down.
By day 100, you’re right back where you started.
What am I saying here?
Rather than uncelebrate your progress like I did these past few weeks, keep taking one step forward each day. Even if it’s half a step. Even if it’s 0.2 of a step. You’ll go further by moving forward slowly than by standing still or sliding back. Because the only result of going backwards is ending up at the starting point.
I know I’m always preaching keep pushing, and I mean it.
Now we’re in the beginning of August—the eighth month of the year. If you’re feeling like your progress isn’t where you want it to be, please don’t get discouraged. Don’t uncelebrate how far you’ve come.
Keep going.
Even if the pace feels too slow.
It’s still better than pausing or going backwards.
Our goal in life is to keep getting better. Like my favorite book, the Bible says, The path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
There will be days when you’ll have the strength to take two or three steps. And there will be days when you can only take half a step. But whatever you do—don’t take a minus step. We don’t want to go backwards.
We want to keep going forward.
To help stay in that mindset, here’s something I started in July that’s helped me see things more clearly…
Every day (and yes, some days I’ve missed), I write down 10 things I’m grateful for. On paper or in the Notes app on my phone. I try not to repeat them.
Today I’ve written my 10. Tomorrow, they’ll be different. Why? Because I want to celebrate my 0.5 steps forward, not ignore it and go backwards.
That’s why my message to you this week and for August is simple:
You are making progress.
Whether you think you are or not.
You may be halfway through those 100 stairs.
Maybe a quarter way.
Maybe almost there.
But wherever you are—celebrate it.
The most important thing is you’re not where you used to be.
I’m always here, always learning from my mistakes, and always willing to share.
Have a fantastic August.
See you later.
Take care,
Olamidotun.

Affirmation for the week
“I celebrate every step forward,
no matter how small.
My journey is valid, and my pace is enough.
I choose progress over perfection,
movement over stagnation.
I honor how far I’ve come and trust where I’m going.
Even slow steps build momentum
toward my purpose.
I am not where I used to be
and that’s worth everything.”
Word Of The Week
Proverbs 4:18 NIV
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
