Even pain holds something good

Hello ,

Firstly, I’ll like to say a big thank you to everyone who sent feedback on my amazing newsletter last week. Your feedbacks always make me know you’re reading ❤️

It's the start of another new week and as always, I come bearing the most amazing, positive, and encouraging news.

How many of us go through situations in life that sometimes scar us or leave a negative memory in our minds that we choose—I just don't want to go back there anymore?

Now for me, I have some of those memories.

But one thing I have learnt over the years to do is pick and choose.

Well, pick and choose is for when I go through a negative situation, and then I ask myself: What do I need to learn in this event, and what do I need to unlearn? What are the positives and what are the negatives that I need to pick out of it?

Because guess what - I say that every single thing in life that we go through has a lesson in itself.

So most times, whilst I might mark a negative event by saying, “this thing was negative and I never want to remember it,” I always choose to pick what I want out of an event—just as a failing forward or a lesson forward.

To explain this more, I’ll like to use an example from this past week when I was brave enough to wear my father's wristwatch.

Now, there are so many stories I can tell you about wearing my father's wristwatch and what that meant. But I remember shortly after my father passed, I had been given his wristwatch as one of the things that we had shared as his children.

Now for me, my father and I had a very special relationship. But the truth is, I remember the day that I picked up his watch and I thought to myself, there are some things that I have learned from my father, and there are some things that I have chosen are important.

What am I saying here?

From that special relationship, I have learned that you must be able to pick what is important, just to be able to learn lessons for the future. There's always good in everything that we need to learn. There's always something special that we need to learn going forward.

And so for me, this week, whilst wearing my father's wristwatch was an encouraging memory, it was also the reminder to me that no matter what you go through in life, even when the situation is negative, you must always pick what you are going to learn going forward.

Not all is bad. There’s always something to pick from.

So my message (questions) to you this week are -

No, the best way to learn things going forward is to learn from your experiences of the past. They only make you stronger. They only make you wiser.

My newsletter today is an honor to my father.

It was such an honor to wear his wristwatch.

But even more such an honor for me is the ability to move on and be the best version and be the best that I can be just so I know that there’s always something good out of a bad.

See you guys.

Take care,

Olamidotun.

P.S.: Feel free to forward this to someone who needs a little reminder and encouragement.

Affirmation for the week

image

“I honor my past by choosing the lessons

that strengthen me and

releasing what holds me back.

Every experience, no matter how painful,

offers wisdom I can carry forward.

I have the power to pick what serves my future and let go of what no longer belongs.

Even in loss, I find reminders of love,

courage, and growth.

I trust that every scar has shaped a wiser, stronger version of me.

I am moving forward with clarity, purpose, and peace in my heart.”

Word Of The Week

Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
