Hey Strawberries!
Happy release day to the Hucows of Magmell! Daisy and Henrulg’s book is stuffed with orc politics, brat taming, and an eldest daughter learning she doesn’t have to work herself to death for love. I absolutely love this book…it might be my new favorite of the ones I’ve written. It’s a little darker than my other books because the hucow herd is the villain in this book series, and Daisy’s stories of her upbringing break the hearts of the orc horde who take her in. All she wants is a vacation, and Henrulg’s kidnapping gives her the perfect way out of the sanctuary, but will guilt force her to return? How will Henrulg convince his fated mate to stay when he’s not allowed to be with her due to a succession law? Find out in Obedient For Her Orc!
Since I love this book series so much, I couldn’t just have them be eBooks. However, books 1 and 3 aren’t long enough to bind. What’s an author to do? I bound stories 1-3 (Leprechaun’s Lucky Hucow, Obedient For Her Orc, and Little Fae Riding Bull) into one hardback book with SFW art by BernieRunsAwayFromToads. Strawberry Plants and Fields members on my Patreon have their copy in the mail. If you aren’t a member of my Patreon on these tiers, you can grab your copy at Romance Books, Hooks, and Crooks (3/28 in Georgetown, IN), LaGrange Book Fair (LaGrange, KY 8/2), or Lexington Book Bash (9/11 in Lexington, KY).
In three days, Frank’s Patient releases! What do I love most about this book? It’s dramatic—like those Grey’s Anatomy episodes that made you ugly cry. Haunted Health is such a fun series (despite the drama in book 1) because I can stuff it full of Easter eggs and cameos from my other books. Having a monster hospital between realms means that characters from my other series can even meet each other. While The Pearl Clutchers and Walk the Walk series are historical, I still found a way to reference some of their characters, too. I can’t wait for this book to be released, and readers can find them all!
Happy St Patrick’s Day! Here are a few green guys to help you celebrate…unless you’re like Bessy and shaking up with a Leprechaun.

This month has been a whirlwind, getting ready for Romance Books, Hooks, and Crooks. This book show is dear to my heart because it benefits the Kentuckiana Romance Writers, a 503c nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, support, and fellowship of romance authors in the states of Kentucky and Indiana. Want to hear more? I’ll be talking about it on The Star Chamber Podcast on 3/18/26 on Podbean, Apple Podcasts, and iHeart Podcasts.
What’s next for me after releasing two books three days apart? I’m brainstorming a new alien romance for the Kentuckiana Romance Writers 2026-2027 anthology. We’re traveling back to the 1980s, and I’ve been asked to write a story inspired by the cheesiest alien movies of the 1980s. If you read Independence on a Stick in the Earth Girls Are Easy to Dominate anthology, you know I love writing aliens in this era. It was a wacky time where aliens seemed like a fun possibility instead of an escape from our modern world.
I doubt alien abduction is a possibility right now, so please be kind. You never know what the other person is going through at the moment. Before you post, comment, review, or contact someone from the bookish community, please ask yourself if you are being kind. I’ve received a few ugly remarks recently when I’m hardly on social media at all. To be honest, they made me consider quitting, but I thought continuing with my unbothered author journey would be sweeter revenge. Yes, the remarks were that horrible. I let them go because I don’t know why those readers felt the need to speak to a stranger that way. They are probably living through something horrible. Instead of responding to them individually with my own dragon fire, I’m requesting on their behalf to be kind.
Blessed Be and Let Magic Find You,
Marilyn Barr
