Dear Reader,
You know how I love puns so the “sails” in the email subject are for sails and sales. First, thank you to all the current backers of the Walk the Walk KickStarter Project. I have been contacted by not one but TWO angel backers who have stated they will match my backer money amounts on the last day of the KickStarter. This means everyone is a heartbeat away from the full funding rewards of autographed paperbacks and custom bookmarks. How close am I? Eight paperback preorders ($45 trilogy) or thirty-five eBook ($10) preorders. Have you joined the pirate crew and pre-ordered Branko and Magda’s paranormal romance trilogy?
To convince those on the decks to weigh anchor with us – my husband put a wager on the KickStarter. You remember my whole writing career started because he dared me to write a book, right? If this KickStarter reaches its pre-order goals, I am to dye my hair VOODOO BLUE, Eeek! In honor of Chevelle, the Hoodoo Priestess in the final book Walk the Night, he selected Voodoo Blue. Sigh. Will you contribute to a homeschool mom in conservative Kentucky having blue hair? Join the fun and be the first to travel to 1718 with me.
But wait! I said a free eReader in my email. I’m part of the BookSweeps Historical Romance BookBub follow event. For every author you follow on BookBub at the link below, you get 5 contest entries. The second prize is 30 free historical romance eBooks including Dance to Wylder Beat by me. First prize wins an eReader and the 30 free historical romance eBooks including Dance to Wylder Beat by me. Following an author on BookBub means that you will get notifications of their new releases and sales, but you can unfollow them at any time.
The pirates of 1718 rarely plundered books from the vessel they robbed, they mostly stole food, but they were looking for gold. How about a contest where you can get paid to read and review books? It’s time for the Facebook Winter Games! Readers join the Winter Games Facebook group where 50 authors have contributed their eBooks and TONS of prizes. How do you play? On Valentine’s Day, the contest opens in the private Facebook group. You have 30 days to request eBooks from authors, read them, and review them on Amazon. The authors gift you the books so there is no purchase necessary. You select which authors/books you request. My beach read, Smoother Than Spumoni, is one of the books on offer. Weekly Facebook parties will give you the chance to win paperbacks, gift cards, and author swag in addition to the free books. But wait! The first and second readers to review all the books in the contest win a cash prize. Last year the winner received a $250 gift card to AMZ while the second prize won $100.
One last housekeeping note, this month’s official Strawberry Rumor Mill newsletter will go out on 2/13 instead of 2/17 in honor of Valentine’s Day. There are so many discounted and free books for the holiday that I want to share them with you while on sale. Keep a lookout in your spam folder so you don’t miss out on the freebies.
Blessed Be and Let Magic Find You,
Marilyn Barr
