Hi Strawberry Fans,

This is a special edition of the Strawberry Rumor Mill with an exciting announcement. Today, we set sail for 1718. I know you love visiting Strawberry, Wylder, and “The Institute” in my other series, but how would you like to relocate to the Caribbean? Nope, I’m not giving away plane tickets.

Not only will you get the books at a fraction of their Amazon debut price and your name in them, but also you will be eligible for book swag. If the KickStarter fully funds, I’m giving all paperback pre-orders matching bookmarks. If the KickStarter over funds, I’m also adding in exclusive book boxes with character art only found through the KickStarter. Are you ready to weigh anchor? Here’s the link:

When researching pirates for my son’s homeschool studies, I fell in love with Blackbeard’s legend. How one man could build such a character in his 18-month career was fascinating to me. If he was living large as “the demon of the sea” what was his downfall? An unknown disease of a very intimate sort took down the most fearsome pirate the world has ever known (probably syphilis but not confirmed). After establishing an attitude of equality and democracy on his boat, I was appalled at the story of how he sold his crew members of color to plantation owners in Carolina for mercury treatments. How deep would the betrayal hurt such a pirate?

This became the backstory of Branko, our hero for the Walk the Walk book series. Branko is warned his days are numbered so he jumps ship—literally. The next boat at Charles Town dock is strangely unguarded and easy to take. He can sail to freedom once he figures out what to do with the lady chained to the hull who claims to be a vampire.

Yes! Walk the Walk is a vampire romance. The first vampire story was originally published in 1819, but the legend is much older. Pirates were a superstitious bunch who told scary stories on the high seas to combat boredom. Magda the Vampiress is the type of vampire you would find in Strawberry—without the wings. She’s not a bloodthirsty monster but an unfortunate lady who married a madman. He sold her body to science in the Americas—while she was still living in it. I loved writing about the survival problems of a vampire on the run. However, my favorite part of the Walk the Walk series is the banter between Branko and Magda. Like this scene…

Thank you so much for reading about my next adventure. I hope you will join me. This is my first step into self-publishing. The reason why I’m opening with a KickStarter is to fund a professional editor and cover designer, so the books are the same quality as those I have published with The Wild Rose Press. The Strawberry Shifters and Wylder series will be continued in 2022 with TWRP but you will have Branko and Magda’s books to read while the slow wheels of traditional publishing turn. If this KickStarter is successful, you can look forward to many self-published books from me in the coming years. Here's the link one more time:
