Hello ,
Is everyone getting excited for Samhain? My son has decided we are going as characters from the Super Mario Brothers games. Last year we were Scooby and the gang. The year before my husband and I were giant lobsters while my son was the Swedish chef. Halloween costumes are a small way we can show we support his interests and decisions. However, I’m ecstatic I get to wear a princess dress. Being Daphne was fun, but my son owes me after the stifling lobster costume. In Strawberry KY, it is usually over ninety degrees while we trick or treat. The heat is an excuse for my neighbors to hand out shots of bourbon to the parents who visit our houses. Living on the edge of a forest is too much fun.
What rumors are going around Rosie’s pizzeria this month? Our little village of Strawberry KY has grown exponentially over the last few weeks due to the addition of a certain Spiritual Spy. Welcome to our little village to all first-time visitors! The Spy Who Was Out Cold is a free eBook for you. If you haven’t downloaded your copy, you will find it in our member’s area (the password is Rafaella). This is the first half of the Spiritual Spy Duology. The second half is The Spy Who Loved My Russian Tea Cakes which has made it to preorder.
Have you read Sergei’s last mission and are ready for Cassie’s healing touch?
POLL: This month’s poll question is about The Spy Who Was Out Cold. Sergei gets another chance at love with Cassie, but what about Katya. What did you think of her? I admit I struggle with whether she is a hero or a villain. I never thought I could write a morally gray character but here we are. Should I write a third installment after Katya does her work in the South Pacific? Does she deserve to find love again or does her story end with therapy and self-love? Let me know what you think by replying to this email.
While you’ve been getting steamy with Sergei and Cassie, I haven’t neglected our Strawberry Shifters pack. Alison’s little sister Betty moved in at the end of Round of Applause and she’s causing problems with the vampires…or are they causing her problems? Betty's book Strawberry Shifters Book 3: Go Scorch Yourself is in contract and I’m awaiting edits from my editor from The Wild Rose Press. I hope to have a winged valentine for you this year.
If you are a Spiritual Spy or Wylder fan just joining us, you may not know who Alison is. Alison is the Green Witch with sensory processing disorder like me. She is central to the Strawberry Shifters book series when she moves to Strawberry to give her husband one more chance. Book 1: Bear with Me not only introduces our town but also explores marriage equality when one spouse works outside of the home while the other works inside it. Will Alison step out from Grant’s shadow to battle the paranormal villains of the town or fall into the damsel-in-distress role she’s used to playing? Meanwhile, her husband is working on his work/home balance. The skeptical, logical alpha goes from non-believer to furry pack leader to zero. Can he put his ego aside for his marriage when the rest of the world sees him as a saint? Bear with Me is on sale for 99-cents for a limited time and spotlighted in the Fangy, Furry, Futuristic, and Fantastic Spooky Romance Book Fair.
This month’s book fairs are a treat for you! First up is the October Sexyfest (yes you read that right). Wowsa! These are erotic romance across all genres from paranormal to contemporary to historical. They have one thing in common. They are free with newsletter sign up. There are 99 books and not a price tag among them.
Next up is the Something Wicked Steamy Romance Fair. These books are not as hot as October Sexyfest but there is not a fade-to-black in the bunch. Lots of aliens and cowboys in this group, but they are all on sale or free. Check it out here!
Finally, we have the Flustered By Them Book Fair. These are spicy books with strong alpha males…like Grant in Bear with Me or Sergei the Spiritual Spy. You know the Blowhard Alpha is my type… so I couldn’t resist entering this book fair too. Check out these books and see if you get flustered too.
My witchy book recommendation is a FREE prequel by J.A. Brooklyn. Skald’s Hollow is the creepy first installment of The Chronicles of Alder. This is a family saga similar to the Von Popescu vampires in Strawberry. One family member is evil, and the others do not wish to support him. How do they divide their power base without losing their lives? This freebie is a page-turner.
Thank you so much for visiting Strawberry. I hope to hear from you about Katya. I don’t know what to do with that girl! Part of me says she gets what she deserves, part of me says mending her broken mind is enough of a happily ever after, but part of me is tempted to create a character who can love her. I look forward to your suggestions.
Blessed Samhain and Let Magic Find You!
