Hi ,

Not long after the engagement party, Elena reached out again. This time, it wasn’t about an outfit. It was about something much bigger.

She mentioned, quite matter-of-factly, that she and him had started talking seriously about buying a place together.

Not casually browsing. Actually looking.

If you live in Brisbane, you’ll know that buying property right now is no small decision. Prices have been really shifting upward and the competition is high. Deposits are taking years to build for most potential buyers.

But for Elena, this wasn’t just a financial consideration. It was a serious unpacking of emotional legacy.

Buying property with someone new, after a marriage breakdown, carries a whole lot of weight. And it's another level of seriousness when there’s a child involved.

Everything has to be considered carefully. Stability, logistics, schools, commute times. Shared responsibilities including financial roles. All those practical things.

But underneath that, there’s also trust. Trusting someone enough to build something permanent together.

What I noticed during this period was how inwardely steady Elena had become.

She still came across as measured, but now just seemed more certain and confident in her decisions.

I suppose that's because over the previous year, she had quietly built a stronger foundation, initially starting in her wardrobe and then expanding to how she approached choices generally.

Knowing what suits you can actually do that, removing the noise and shortening decision-making.

I guess it's building confidence in small ways that gradually carry across into bigger areas of life.

Elena and I have stayed in touch since this period, mostly through a couple of Styled to Go check-ins.

And then, one afternoon, a message came through that felt different. It was short and direct (very Elena).

They had secured a place!

A new home for her and her child and her new partner. An exciting, shared future beginning to take shape in earnest.

Well we'd come a long way since Elena's initial

consultation over a year ago!

And not long after that milestone, something else followed.

Until next week,
