It wasn't a lightning bolt

Style confidence is not instant. It’s a gradual build.
Hi ,
A few weeks after Elena’s Colour Analysis, another booking came through from Elena.
Same service. Different client.
This time it was for her mum.
Elena mentioned that over the last couple of years, her mum had quietly been her rock. Helping with school pickups when schedules clashed. Being available when life felt overwhelming. Offering steady support during the move and the separation.
Just consistently there.
Booking the Colour Analysis for her mum felt like a practical way to give something back.
They arrived together on the day, and it was interesting watching the dynamic between them.
Elena was still her usual reserved self. Observant. Taking things in. Letting her mum have the spotlight to ask all the blunt and pointed questions.
There’s something special about shared sessions like this.
Two women, different life stages, sitting side by side and learning how colour works. Observing how small differences can change how rested or vibrant someone looks. How it will impact the current wardobe. Chatting about family life, spending habits, and even what to wear on a third date.
You know, what I noticed most that day wasn’t actually about colour.
It was about Elena.
She seemed more... settled and relaxed than when we met.
Still thoughtful. Still careful with her decisions. But less weighed down somehow.
Over the previous months, she had started making small adjustments based on her style and colour learnings.
Nothing dramatic. Simple but intentional choices. Better colour combinations. More confidence in selecting what supported her lifestyle and work role. She wore what I believe was a new belted shirtdress in a gorgeous chinese blue/white geo pattern.
And that’s usually how real change tends to show up.
Not in a single, big makeover. But instead through steady decisions over time to embed refreshed standards.
I think her mum started to catch the colour "bug", in fact she left behind a blush-nude jumper that was too warm for her "Tranquil" colour palette.
Toward the end of the session, I heard a particular name come up a second time. Elena didn’t elaborate but there was possibly a shift in tone when she spoke about it? Or then again, maybe I was just reading into it.
Anyway, it would be a few months later before I heard from Elena again.
And this time, the request was very specific.
