Last week I listened to a video where @benjamin_hardy_phd applied the 80/20 rule to us. He said to reach the next level of our evolution, we'll likely have to let go of 80% of who we currently are. Not our deep souls, but our beliefs and mindsets, habits, people in our lives, how we spend our time, etc. (My paraphrase). I think of this 80% that's in the way as grunge, blocking our souls and therefore deep purpose from shining forth. I've thought about this all week. What is the old, and what will propel me forward? Shedding can be emotional and painful, or it can feel like casually shrugging off clothes that no longer fit the season. I'm starting to realize that as I move forward, it becomes more obvious what does and does not fit. Such a relief. Anyone out there relate to this? What are you shedding? #missoulasunset #sheddinglayers #introspection #personaldevelopment #benjaminhardy #futureself #goals #dreams #hiking
Closets have proven the easiest place to dry herbs! So far I've taken over territory in the guest room and my office... But no closets are safe as new herbs are ready to dry each day. The curtains are great for darkness, which preserves quality. Fans in the room help with airflow. I have other ideas to expand the operation but this is working for the moment... #herbalist #dryingherbs #herbalgarden #herbalmedicine #herbalism #driedflowers #driedherbs #missoula #wellness #wellbeing #closet
For many of us, the benefits of yoga lie not in pushing our bodies to physical limits, but slowing down enough to tune into their deep wisdom. By moving through gentle sequences of poses we calm our nervous system, improve our mobility, stimulate circulation and more.
I'm teaching my FIRST herbalism/yoga workshop and I'm so excited! 🤩 Oiling is an act of deep cellular nourishment and palatable self-love That second pic is a sneak peak of one of the oils we'll be using. 🪄Calendula-circulation/lymphatic 🪄Lavender -nervous system support 🪄Rose -cooling to tissues +self love All sourced from my garden + a kind friend's. #herbaloils #herbaloiling #sacredally #gentleyoga #selfcare #nourishyourbody #nourishment #selflove #missoulaevents #yoga #herbalism #herbalist
From the fields... To the cutting board and the jar to extract the deep red hypericin + other constituents. Soon to be slathered across bodies of loved ones. All year, I've been using St John's Wort oil that I bought from @mythicmedicine. My partner and I use it as massage oil weekly. I picture the bright yellow flowers as soon as I begin spreading, and always feel a little lighter and brighter. Sore muscles, anything relating to nerves, and I also love it as a foot rub if I'm having trouble falling asleep--another idea from Mythic Medicine. You'll often read about it blooming with the solstice, but I'm finding it's a bit later 'round these parts. Tell me, what's your favorite massage oil? How do you use it? Where do you buy it? #stjohnswort #herbalgarden #ethicalwildcrafting #massageoil #herbalmedicine #herbalmassage #medicinemaking

The mosquitoes were fierce, but so were the views! Did you know, there are places you can go with thousands of mosquitos dive-bombing your face AND snow. #montana #backpacking #views #mosquito #nature #snowinjuly #camping
There is an abundance of food and medicine all around us, if only we reclaim the knowledge to see. Within feet of where I sat in Cheeseman Park, I recognized a variety of plant allies. Only 6 months before I'd thought of the park as one big monolithic lawn. While I don't recommend using plants from city parks (herbicides + trafficked public space), and do recommend more research and careful ID of anything you choose to use... I do love sharing this idea---even in cities, even though we've abused mother earth, we remain surrounded by food and medicine! How beautiful is that. 💗 #herbalism #herbalist #weedsaremedicine #denver #missoula #plantmedicine #plants #cityparks
