Amex Shop Small is back for June 2021

My favourite money-making promotion of the year is back next month for an extra helping - but it's different from the usual December outing.

This time you'll have to spend more money to get the cashback and you'll also be able to use it less too.

Here's everything you need to know about how it'll work, how to get the most out of it, and how to take part if you don't already have an American Express credit card.

Money transfer credit cards – can they save you money?

If you have an overdraft or catalogue debt costing you money every month then a money transfer credit card could cut that interest to 0% and help you clear the debt.

Here's how they work and what to watch out for.

Credit scores explained

I'm often asked about credit scores and credit reports, so I thought it made sense to go back to basics and explain exactly what they are, how they work and how they are different.

CASH CHATS PODCAST

Some exciting podcast news. I found out yesterday that I've been shortlisted for Financial Broadcaster of the Year at the Headlinemoney Awards for my work on Cash Chats.

I'm the only independent journalist in the final five, with the rest all working for the BBC or Financial Times, so it's a big honour to get this far.

As always, there are two new episodes for you to listen to this week.

#195: Why you need more than one current account

Last weekend Santander customers had a nightmare with online and app banking unavailable and even problems with card transactions.

This is one of the big reasons why I think you MUST have more than one current account, and there are plenty more on top as I explain in this episode.

#194: Your Money, This Week

Personal finance journalist Faith Archer helps me look back at the top money news stories from the week, including:

You can listen to both via all the normal podcasting routes or over on the blog.

THIS WEEK'S DEALS

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.

I've also set up an extra Instagram account dedicated to the flash sales, deals and short-lived offers I spot throughout the week. Do follow me there so you don't miss out on offers that are already finished by the time this email goes out on a Thursday.

1. M&S Food: £10 off £20 spend

Sign up to the BPme reward app and you'll be able to save a tenner on food ordered from BP garages with a Marks & Spencer food store. There's also £1.25 in free points when you join.

2. Freetrade: Free share worth up to £200

This trading app gives new users a free share worth between £3 and £200.

It's completely random what you get - I received one worth around £13.

You can just sign up and deposit £1 to get the free stock, then withdraw all the cash. If you do want to use Freetrade for further investing then I'd recommend you do more research.

3. Chip: 1.25% savings and £10 bonus

The Chip £10 welcome bonus has unexpectedly returned until Saturday. As I've said before it's not a normal savings account, but it's still one of the top-paying accounts. If you're going to get it you might as well get the extra tenner.

4. Glastonbury: 20% off online tickets

There's no proper Glasto festival this year, but there is an online event this weekend called Live at Worthy Farm with acts such as Coldplay, Damon Albarn and Idles. Tickets are £20, but you can save 20% with a code, or perhaps even get one free.

5. Aperol Spritz: Buy two save £8

If you're back out at the bars and pubs then this offer will get you £8 back when you buy two Aperol Spritz drinks.

6. Theme Parks: Save 50%

If you want to try some rollercoasters over half terms then you'll need to book in advance. Fortunately, there are some deals to save you up to 50%.
