Passive income from bank rewards
I'm often recommending current accounts which come with monthly rewards or freebies - money for essentially nothing.
In total there are nine different accounts that offer these - but is the return you'll get worth having them all?
I've taken a look to see how much money you'll get from each one, as well as a few tricks to earn even more.
The best travel debit and credit cards
Though I imagine most of you won't be jetting off on Monday when travel is allowed, it's worth thinking ahead now in case you do get away later in the year.
And one of the easiest ways to save money is to ensure you've got a fee-free card to use when spending. Here's my updated pick of the best debit, smart and credit cards for 2021.
Cinema reopenings: How to save money
If you're keen to see movies back on the big screen then you'll be able to head back to most cinemas from Monday as part of the latest easing of lockdown.
Here's which chains are reopening, what to expect and a few tricks to save some money on ticket prices.

CASH CHATS PODCAST
As always, there are two episodes for you to listen to this week.
#193: Summer holidays & protecting your bookings if you go away
Though the list of "green" destinations isn't huge, we've got confirmation that overseas travel is allowed again - and bookings to Portugal have rocketed as a result.
But it's not as simple as book and go. I'm joined by travel consumer expert Jane Hawkes to go through the pros and cons of going away this summer, and the extra costs you can expect.
#192: Your Money, This Week
Personal finance educator Charlotte Jessop helps me look back at the top money news stories from the week, including:
- New support for those in debt
- Amex cashback cuts
- Ikea's buy back scheme
- Kids' pocket money rates
- & more
You can listen to both via all the normal podcasting routes or over on the blog.
WEEKLY LIVE Q&A:
THURSDAY 13 May @ 6pm-6.30pm
If you want to ask me questions about the content in today's newsletter I'll be live on Instagram, Facebook and on my YouTube channel this evening at 6pm - that's Thursday 13 May.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
If you join in later I'd like to know how many current accounts you have. Comment live during the chat!
THIS WEEK'S DEALS
I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.
I've also set up an extra Instagram account dedicated to the flash sales, deals and short-lived offers I spot throughout the week. Do follow me there so you don't miss out on offers that are already finished by the time this email goes out on a Thursday.
1. Monese: Free £15.05 bonus
Sign up to this digital bank and you can get a £5 reward when you first spend with the debit card and an extra £15 after spending £500. There's a £4.95 card delivery charge, so you'll be up £15.05 in total.
2. Nectar: 99 free points
Ok, so these free points are only worth 49.5p, but it takes 30 seconds to nab them via an Esso competition.
It's also worth checking for emails from eBay as I've been sent an offer for 500 bonus Nectar points (worth £2.50) when I spend £5 - though this will only be for selected customers.
3. Waitrose: £5 off online
Spend £40 online and you can get a fiver off your online Waitrose shop. Get the code.
4. Tastecard: 90-day free trial
With up to six people allowed inside restaurants from Monday (and more outside) it could be a good time to check out a Tastecard free trial to save money on your meals.
You can get three months free, and you'll also get discounts on cinema tickets and movie rentals.
5. Paperchase: 25% off everything
Need to stock up on greetings cards, wrapping paper or other similar things? Then this is a good chance to get money off at Paperchase. It's online only.
6. Odeon: £9.99 Limitless membership
If you do want to return to the cinema you can now get Odeon's unlimited ticket membership for £9.99 a month or £11.99 in London, saving £8 a month. This price is only until September when it goes back to the higher level.
There's also a reduced minimum term of three months - down from the previous 12.
7. Travelodge: 15% off
I've just used this offer to rebook a hotel room for later this summer, saving me £14. It ends on Monday, but is valid for bookings until September.
