BLOG: Job Support Scheme changes announced
Just as I was about to send this week's email, the Chancellor announced some changes to the Job Support Scheme (which replaces furlough on 1st November 2020), as well as grants for businesses impacted in Tier 2. Here's a summary of what was said.
BLOG: Monzo Premium review
Digital bank Monzo released a new packaged bank account this week. I've taken a look at Monzo Premium to see whether the included metal card and insurance cover (travel and phone) are worth shelling out £15 a month for.
BLOG: How to sell your old phone
With the new iPhones shipping on Friday it could be a good time to sell your old handset. I've shared now just how to do it, but also looked at whether it's better to upgrade and sell when models are only a year old, or whether you'll ultimately be better off by waiting a year or two.
BLOG: Plan your Christmas spending NOW
It's just over two months now until Christmas, and though it'll be very different to normal (could we all be under lockdown?), it doesn't mean it won't still be one of the most expensive times of the year.
This checklist will take you through all the areas you might need to budget for, how to avoid expensive borrowing and ways to make some extra money to fund those purchases.
VIDEO: What could negative interest rates mean for your savings?
In my monthly roundup of the best savings accounts on my YouTube channel I've also looked at the rumours of negative interest rates, and what that might mean for your savings.
PODCAST: Cash Chats #146 - Should we pay for fintech?
On the podcast this week I've looked at new charges at Chip and Monzo. Are they worth paying? Can you get the same service elsewhere for less? And is it fair to expect innovation in the fintech world for free?
You can listen via all the normal podcasting routes or over on the blog.

The top deals this week
I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.
I've also set up an extra Instagram account dedicated to the deals and offers I spot throughout the week. Do follow me there so you don't miss out on offers that are already finished by the time this email goes out on a Thursday.
1. New bank switch offers
There are two new incentives to switch bank. Natwest will give you £125 to join them. It's open to existing customers too - as long as you haven't had a bonus since October 2017 from Natwest or RBS.
First Direct has also reopened its account to new customers (it's been closed since March), and with it the chance for a £100 bonus - if you leave! You need to switch over, stay for six months and then say you want to go in order to get your cash.
Here's more on these and the other bank switching incentives.
2. Free pumpkin after cashback
You can get up to £2 back via TopCashback if you buy a pumpkin and upload your receipt to their app.
3. Free G&T this weekend
You can claim a free Bombay Sapphire Bramble gin and tonic this weekend at selected pubs (if you're not in Tier 3, Wales or Scotland!).
4. Three months Tidal for £3
This offer seems to be open to both new and previous customers. You'll get 90 days of Premium for £3. For HiFi it's £6.
5. The best savings on craft beer advent calendars
I love the idea of a craft beer advent, but they can be pretty pricey, so I've rounded up the biggest discounts from the likes of Brewdog, Beer52 and Honest Brew.
