Your weekly money saving deals and news from money expert Andy Webb

"Did you have a great Christmas? I've dabbled a little in the sales, but I've managed to only buy things I actually need, which obviously includes a cut-price Chocolate Orange and Indiana Jones Blu-Ray boxset... Have a fantastic New Year's and I'll be back with more tips and deals next week. Andy"

1. 15% off EVERYTHING at eBay - TODAY ONLY

It's not just second hand goods sold on eBay. Big retailers such as Argos, Office, Curry's and Tesco have their own outlet stores. Sometimes these are clearance items, but often it's the same stock as you get direct from their own websites. And this 15% off code means you can save big. Be quick though as it ends 8pm tonight, Thursday 29th December.

2. Got an HMV gift card? Spend it NOW

News broke this morning that entertainment retailer HMV is likely to go into administration any day now. I've shared what you need to do if you have a gift card or plan to spend money there in the sales.

3. 30% off Travelodge

Until New Year's Day you can save almost a third on Travelodge stays next year. You can get the discount on bookings until the end of March, though there are restrictions so you might have to play around to get the dates you want.

4. New £100 bank switching offer

First Direct has brought back the £100 switching offer, which I think is better than the freebies deal it offered for the last year. There's also the potential for another £100 if you change your mind after six months and switch away.

5. Huge festive food discounts

If you haven't already, head down to your supermarket to stock up reduced to clear Christmas goodies. There are discounts on all sorts. I picked up a 75p Chocolate Orange yesterday, but could have had much more. There are also online sales, with big discounts at Hotel Chocolat, Lindt and Thorntons.

6. Tricks to afford an annual rail season ticket

Rail prices go up on the 2nd of January, and one of the best ways to avoid the hike (for this year at least) is to buy a season ticket before that date. Of course, these are very expensive, so I've shared a few tricks you might be able to use to help you afford one.
