My top articles this week
1. My rules if you’ve been given a gift card
There's a good chance lots of you receive a gift card this Christmas, which is probably better than socks. But, there are a number of risks attached to them which could make them worthless. So I've some simple steps to take to make sure you don't lose out.
2. Best TV streaming: Amazon Prime vs Netflix vs Now TV
I picked up the Christmas Radio Times yesterday (actually I blagged 10 issues for £1 a month or so ago) and it's full of festive TV viewing. But chances are I'm still going to mainly be watching one of the three main streaming services over the next few weeks, with loads of box sets to catch up on. But having all three can be pricey, so I've scored each one on content, price, deals and extras to help you choose which one is worth paying for.
3. How to cut the cost of Christmas food and drink
It's about time to start thinking about food over Christmas, so I've shared a few simple ways I spend less, from tricks to ensure you're not buying more than you need to ways you can get what you want for less.

The top deals this week
I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value - and here they are for you too. First some newbies in a bit more detail, then some you might have missed from previous weeks. Click the red titles or blue links for more information.
1. Up to 15% off beauty - Ends Sunday
Debenhams and House of Fraser are both running big discount deals on beauty and fragrance, and John Lewis is price matching. It's a good chance to pick up a gift, or stockpile the things you use frequently through the year.
2. Last chance to use Amex Shop Small - Ends Sunday
If you've got an American Express credit card, don't forget you've got until Sunday to take advantage of the Shop Small promotion where you get £5 back when you spend £10 or more at participating small businesses. So far we've gained about £70 back. Yes that means we've spent £140ish, but we've had some great set meals at restaurants, served some posh cheese at a festive party, picked up toys for my niece and nephew and stocked up on craft beer and wine. It's well worth having a look.
3. Christmas decoration sales
A few shops are starting to discount decorations and lights, including M&S and Argos. Worth checking out.
4. Free Hotel Chocolat on your birthday
Sign up in store for Hotel Chocolat's VIP ME scheme and you'll get 15% off your next purchase, and a free gift on your birthday.
5. One month kids, movies and entertainment on NOW TV for £11.99
A decent offer for new NOW TV customers if you want to watch all the different passes over Christmas. But each pass will renew at full price after one month, so cancel those you don't want.
