Hi ,
I've known for months July was going to be crazy and it has not disappointed! Between family trips, a busy day job, and the boys' summer camps, it's been nonstop. But with plenty of fun along the way! Hopefully, you've been enjoying the summer too.
Even with everything going on, The Oathsworn Chronicles continue moving forward. Awakening's Kickstarter fulfillment is in full swing (the proof copies so far turned out perfect!). If you were one of its backers, shipping physical copies is just around the corner, so keep an eye on your inbox. 😉 The next novella, A Legacy of Ashes, also just came back from my editor. In fact, here's another snippet of the story, just to celebrate. (And yes, editing can be fun! 😅)
From A Legacy of Ashes, Chapter Three: Change of Plans
Ghenda slid a small scrap of parchment to Rivan. “You’ll find the client here. They know to expect you.” Her brother unfolded the paper. “The Guild would prefer you resolve this matter today. We dislike letting contracts linger.”
Esta looked over as Rivan’s head shot up, eyes wide. “This–this is in the upper district. Isn’t this…?”
Ghenda frowned. “Deliver the package, and your obligations to the Guild are fulfilled.”
Rivan looked like he was about to say more when Esta touched his arm. “We’ll take care of it.”
The woman nodded slightly, then stood from her chair. Men scooted farther away as she passed, their voices quieting, until the door slammed shut behind her.
Esta glanced back at Rivan, her brother still staring at the paper. “What is it?”
He looked up at her with a hint of dread in his eyes. “Es, this is the king’s private gardens.”
Fear dropped into her gut like a weight. “That can’t be right. Maybe you have it wrong.”
Rivan pursed his lips. “Seriously? I don’t know Caroca?”
“It was worth a try.”
He groaned. “What have we gotten ourselves into?”
“I told you it was bad news.”
“So. What do we do?”
Esta glanced across the room at the dingy windows, faint daylight filtering through the dirty air. “Looks like we’re going to see King Attas.”
Realm Makers Expo is finally here!
This week will be the first time I've attended the Realm Makers Expo and conference, and I'm so excited for a weekend jam-packed with amazing speakers, sessions, and fans across every medium imaginable of Christian storytelling. From novelists to game developers to filmmakers, there'll be so many talented creators to meet and experiences to make.
If you're in the Grand Rapids area, definitely check it out. And if you're already going, let me know! I'd love a chance to meet! 😊
New deals and KU!
There's a number of great books to pick up in KU and beyond in this list. One of you brought Dirt Town to my attention several months ago, and it's available in all formats! Now is a great time to check out Paula and Aidan's story, and so many more!
