Hey everyone!
Can you believe that in only four weeks, Awakening finally releases to the world? It's been a long time coming—like over eight years long! A lot's changed since my first inkling of ideas, and it's cool to see how concepts shaping its world have matured.
Behind the scenes - Tolkien style
The first notes I made for The Oathsworn Chronicles were little things jotted in Notes on my phone. Which was fine while Awakening was just a fun writing exercise. But when I decided years later to become serious about publishing not just one book but a whole trilogy, I needed something more. Today, I have an entire knowledge system dedicated to the series—everything from character descriptions and story outlines, to language translations and even a 5,000-year timeline of Aldaria! (I did say Tolkien style, after all.)
In fact, here's a (slightly redacted) snippet of the timeline itself. If you've started reading Awakening, you may recognize a few of the names and locations. Maybe you've even read some of the related stories in blue! Though you'd have to be a time traveler to know what happens in 651 GR. (Even I don't fully know yet, and I've got the outline!! 😂)
