A giveaway, a freebie, and male breast cancer awareness - oh my!
Oct 22, 2020 4:43 am
Hiya!
Hey, I am not gonna lie. October is a tough, PTSD filled, month for me. On my advocacy journey, I am committed to sharing the realities of breast cancer. Which is hard sometimes. I mean, vulnerability is awkward and uncomfortable... amiright? Add to that, the feeling of weakness and all stereotypes around mental health and well... that only amplifies the awkwardness... but I am going all in...
Lot's going on in this edition, be sure to check out the freebie, the contest and all the things. Let's get to it!
ποΈ Podcast Update - ICYMI
Episode 19 released and my guest was Christen Williams from BRCA Chatter. After losing her mom to ovarian cancer, Christen found out that she had the BRCA gene mutation at the age of 27. She started a Video Blog where she takes us along her journey, sharing her steps to stay alive, live life to the fullest, and raise awareness. She shares with us tough decisions that are required when you have the news that you are predisposed to breast cancer, but don't have a cancer diagnosis, and what it means to be a previvor. Episode here.
π Blog Talk
On the blog I open up about Breast Cancer, PTSD, and the Annual October Cancer Coachella. As I mentioned above... PTSD has hit me hard this month. But here is the thing, we really don't talk enough about the mental health aspects of a cancer diagnosis, treatments and the odd space after treatment... where you are "no evidence of disease" but not recovered or cured. So let's talk! (I also included some tips for dealing with PTSD.)
π Thanks a Latte! And a Giveaway!
This month we are giving away a Your Killer Life latte mug to one lucky winner. All you have to do to be entered is buy a cup of joe to support the show! Heck, less than a pumpkin spice latte, keeps the microphones on and the technology overlords happy, and the ugg boots and yoga pants are totally optional! (Though if you send a photo, we will post it.)
