Hiya!

The much famed festival month of Pinktober is upon us! Ok... festival of breast cancer awareness... we will touch on some tips for informed giving. We also have an amazing podcast release and a new sponsor that is going to help us dance our way through the month.

Let's get to it!

🎙️ Podcast Update - ICYMI

Episode 18 released and my guest was Suzanna Davis, image dance artist, dance teacher, founder and host of RakasaFit™ and Belly Dance Off. Suzanna shares how dance fitness helped her maintain physical and mental health through her breast cancer diagnosis, and we cover a lot of area speaking intimately and authentically about confidence, self-esteem, sex and mental health. Episode here.

📓 Blog Talk

imageOn the blog I shared my 6-tips for informed giving as we kick off Pinktober today. Do you know where your money is going? Want to know how to find out? Check out the "Pinktober and 6-tips for Informed Giving" blog post.

The third week of October is also Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week. Let's help our breast cancer brothers raise awareness this year.

📖 Book Update - as Promised

The chapter I have been stuck on is about vulnerability. I start with:

"I feel vulnerable. Exposed. It is deep. Soul wrenching. A feeling of vulnerability that goes beyond the physical sensation that is a response to the doctor appointments, procedures and never ending poking and prodding of my partially nude body. My modesty long gone, and the expectation of privacy departed. Alone."

This chapter is difficult for me. Though I blogged about my cancer, and podcast about it, one thing I have not really touched on is how I was walking through divorce while walking through cancer. In truth this felt like failure. I was recently a guest on the Real & Random Podcast with Rasheeda and we talked about the divorce. I have to thank Rasheeda for her gentle questions and grace with what has been a difficult topic for me. It was also an honor to be featured on her podcast for Breast Cancer Awareness month, and it is helped me work through writers block. Links to Part 1 and Part 2.

And I have to thank my guests for being so open and genuine in sharing their stories. We are all part of that secret, not so secret, club.
