The Chai Times // Live Life Fully

Dear Friends,
This past Sunday my grandmother Bracha Levertov passed away. She was 90 years old.
Bubby Levertov (as she was known to so many of my friends) was born in the Bronx in 1934 to Ahron and Esther Muskal.
In 1954, she married her husband, Rabbi Moshe Levertov, and established a welcoming home of Chesed (kindness). She always put others first, minimizing her own needs to cater to others.
Together with her late husband Rabbi Moshe, she helped run the Ezras Achim organization, helping thousands of Jews in the former Soviet Union.
The chief director of the women's Mikvah and beloved attendant for many years, Bubby was known for her easygoing personality and willingness to accommodate every woman she served.
Known as "Bubby" to many beyond her immediate family, she will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, wild creativity, bubbly personality, and positive perspective on life. (I see a lot of myself in her, mainly in the crazy ideas realm). She would always try to say yes to an opportunity.
She merited to live life to its fullest and raise a dynamic family of children, grandchildren, and many many great-grandchildren, leaders in Jewish communities around the world.
The Austin community has been blessed by Bubby's many visits. We will fondly remember her engaging stories, paintings of biblical stories, and the sheer nachas she experienced with every visit.
I hope to share stories and memories, her example of kindness is an inspiration to us all.
May her memory be a blessing
Wishing you an uplifting Shabbat,
Rabbi Mendy & Mussy

Bar Mitzvah Lesson from Baseball
"Are you a baseball fan? Dodgers or Yankees?" asked the Rebbe to the young boy in 1955, back when both teams played in NYC.
You might not expect these questions from a world-famous Jewish sage to a bar-mitzvah boy. But the Lubavitcher Rebbe had a brilliant lesson for the young boy approaching this milestone. And it wasn't from a Talmudic passage or biblical story, but rather, from sports.
